Can’t log into FC25 companion app

So I have recently got back into fifa the last year or so, made a new ultimate team on fc24, was able to log into the companion app etc.

Didnt use the web app or log into my ultimate team on my Xbox for about 2 or so months, just played clubs with friends until fc25 was out. It’s been out for nearly a week and I still can’t log into the companion app without the “getting started” message appearing and I can’t go any further. 

I read on the EA answers HQ that I needed to log into my fc24 UT on console before August 1st but how long does that stretch? As last time I logged in around May/June time at a guess. I also have only played the new rush mode or squad battles so I haven’t played any rivals games. 

Another point is that I only have 1 EA account so it’s definitely the right account, email & password bc it lets me log in but just tells me I need to get started.

any idea how I can overcome this? Would like to be able to access the transfer market so I can trade on the go to accumulate more coins for a better team. Thanks!
