The end of a disastrous TOTS - feedback and suggestions from the average player.

So now we're at the end of TOTS, I thought I'd use this to essentially rant - but also to offer genuine suggestions that could've made the promo...tolerable...

First of all, the problems. There were many, and some of these I feel EA maliciously created on purpose to worsen the player experience and force us to buy FC points to survive. 

  1. "Exact" rating requirements for SBCs. While it was nice only having to put in about half a squad for SBCs, after a while the problems crept in. Requiring 5 86s for a repeatable SBC in which you'd be lucky to get 1 86 back was, frankly, stupid. There was no grind. There was nothing to do repetitively in order to have a chance at packing TOTS cards. The 82x20s looked fine on the surface (questionable pack weight, I'll get onto that in a minute), but the reality is most people could only do about 2-3 a day without spending actual money or coins on overpriced 86s.
  2. TOTW requirements with no TOTWs in packs. First of all, it's never made sense to me why TOTW ends with about a month left of the season. There are always games on, even in June, so don't stop. Secondly, why the hell would you require TOTW (and ONLY TOTW) for upgrade SBCs when TOTS are in packs and TOTW isn't? Being forced to do TOTW upgrades meant doing the upgrade SBCs each day got harder and harder. This is one that felt malicious, as it took you guys far too long to fix.
  3. Pack weight. Speaking of upgrade SBCs, u think out of about 400 total I probably packed a TOTS in about 6 of them. Shocking pack weight. I shouldn't be opening 28 85x5 combo upgrades in a week and seeing 0 blue. That shouldn't then be followed with 28 83x14s where I see 0, maybe 1 if I'm lucky. I'm not even asking for the good blues to be easy to pack, as I did pack some very nice ones (including Messi), I'm simply asking that the bottom tier ones be packable. 
  4. Player SBCs. Most of them were rubbish, and the good ones were far too overpriced. Find a balance.
  5. Icon picks. Horribly overpriced for the most part, and the 91+ that you released, which was slightly less overpriced, didn't survive and was replaced by a hero pick. Nobody cares about heroes. At least release better heroes (I mean seriously, you couldn't throw in a few hero TOTS cards celebrating some of their best seasons? Lazy)

As you can see, most of this is menu related - I see no point talking about gameplay when we all know the gameplay is mostly shocking. Now, a few solutions for you to ignore.

  1. Replace exact player rating for SBCs with "average player rating". For example, instead of requiring 5 86s, require a squad of 5 players with an average rating of 86.0-86.5 so we can have flexibility with this. It's a virtual card game, why make our lives so difficult on it?
  2. Release a repeatable icon SBC throughout. Make it cheap and unspectacular, but possible to pack a big player. 89+ 1 of 3 for 2 squads or something, any icon. Gives us somewhere to throw our dupe storage when it gets full and the player SBCs don't appeal.
  3. As mentioned, Hero TOTS if you're gonna do Hero picks with no cheap icon companion. Heroes are 99% behind the power curve and have been neglected for months.
  4. Release a repeatable TOTS pack. Go back to starting TOTS off with the worst cards, drop a repeatable TOTS pack on the Wednesday so we can build some up for the rest of TOTS. Then every Thursday add the current league to it so we have 24 hours to push for players we actually want. You can even require a TOTS in it, I'm not expecting it to be a fully repeatable grind until...
  5. During ultimate TOTS, release a TOTS upgrade repeatable, all leagues, 90+ with NO TOTS requirement. Do it on the Tuesday so we have 3 days to have one final push. Make this game fun for God sake. This would make up for the terrible pack weight from upgrade sbcs so we can still do things in the game.
  6. Player SBCs. Either make the better sbcs easier to complete or make the easy to complete SBCs better. Most of the attainable players wouldn't even make most people's 3rd best teams. 

So, I know EA won't take an ounce of this on board as they're historically awful at implementing feedback (even if 99.9% of the player base want the change) so please interact with this yourselves, whether you like my suggestions and complaints or not. I can't be alone in thinking this is what we need - it's very clear on "X" that the player base is frustrated by these very issues. Thanks.
