A deeper Career Mode as an optional add-on

As a long-time player who deeply cares about the offline experience, I would like to propose a constructive and mutually beneficial business model for the Manager Career Mode. Currently, many dedicated Career Mode players tend to skip yearly releases when the offline updates feel incremental, which represents a significant gap in annual retention and monetization. To address this, EA could introduce an optional, premium add-on called "Career Mode Pro" or "Career Mode Extended". While the standard Career Mode remains untouched in the base game, this paid expansion would specifically target hardcore simulation fans who are willing to pay an extra premium for deeper gameplay systems. This premium version would introduce persistent historical data to track player and club stats across multiple decades, alongside a highly advanced club AI. This AI would drive realistic CPU squad-building, prolonged scouting pursuits over multiple seasons, bidding wars, and manager-specific transfer biases. Furthermore, the expansion would feature complex financial management with realistic contract structures and staggered transfer amortizations, balanced by an immersive matchday experience that includes authentic VAR-style review sequences. From a technical standpoint, this would not require a full yearly rebuild. EA could invest heavily in a robust simulation foundation once and then use a modular approach to add minor yearly updates, ensuring a stable development cycle while keeping the community engaged. To make sure the expansion meets player expectations, EA could form a closed advisory group consisting of experienced forum members, Reddit contributors, and prominent community modders. This structured feedback loop would help the development team prioritize high-impact features without ever losing creative control. For EA, the business case is clear. It creates a direct revenue stream from a massive player segment that traditionally does not spend money on microtransactions like Ultimate Team. It also eliminates the trend of players skipping yearly releases, securing stable year-over-year sales and rebuilding brand loyalty with the core offline community. Ultimate Team will always be the live-service flagship, but a premium Career Mode expansion could become the ultimate financial stabilizer for the offline market.
