Coin Wipes, SBC Softbans, and the Real Problems Behind Them
I’ve been following a lot of player feedback and wanted to raise a few connected issues that keep coming up.
- Coin distribution wipes on legitimate trading Many players are having their coins removed after normal Transfer Market activity. A common pattern is packing a high-value card, seeing others listed at the current minimum price, listing at that same price, and then receiving an immediate coin-distribution enforcement email. Appeals are submitted with the full context, yet the decisions are almost always upheld with template responses that do not address the specific transactions. The automated system appears to flag ordinary market behaviour as coin trading, and the review process does not reliably correct those false positives.
- SBC softbans EA has increased the number of repeatable SBCs while pack weight remains low. Players who complete large numbers of these challenges in a normal session are hitting softbans. When the game itself encourages high-volume SBC activity and then restricts players for doing exactly that, it creates frustration and inconsistency.
- Enforcement focus vs. fixing the game There is a noticeable emphasis on detection and punishment (coin distribution flags, softbans, actions against players using in-game exploits or third-party helpers) while core issues remain unaddressed. Third-party tools and coin sites exist largely because of how the economy and progression currently work. High pack prices ($50–$60 for packs whose contents do not carry over) combined with low hit rates on desirable cards create strong demand for alternatives. Making packs more affordable and improving the value players receive would reduce the incentive for those external markets far more effectively than enforcement alone.
Suggestion Lower the barrier to obtaining meaningful content and reduce the reliance on aggressive automated penalties for activity that looks normal on the surface. A fairer economy and clearer, more transparent review process would benefit both players who trade legitimately and EA’s long-term player base.
I’m interested to hear whether others are seeing the same patterns with coin wipes and SBC limits, and whether there is any plan to improve the appeal process or the underlying economy for FC 27.
