FC 26 Career Mode – Gameplay realism, fouls, and contract logic

First off, I’m really enjoying FC 26 so far. I play Manager Career Mode and I think this year’s installment is one of the strongest in the past 3–4 years. Gameplay feels solid on Authentic and Ultimate difficulty—maybe a bit too easy at times—but with some slider adjustments, it really feels good to play. That said, I’ve noticed a few issues that I think could be addressed to improve realism and immersion:

  1. CPU aggression and lack of fouls/injuries
CPU teams rarely commit fouls, even with aggression and injury sliders maxed out. This leads to:
    - Very few free kicks or penalties (unless handballs are on).
    - Almost no injuries, which affects squad rotation and realism.
    - A noticeable imbalance where I commit more fouls than the CPU, especially when playing aggressively.

It would be great to see more contextual fouls, physical duels, and injury variety—especially in longer Career Mode saves.

  2. Contract negotiation logic
It seems players only want to negotiate contracts in the final year. That’s frustrating and unrealistic. It would be more immersive if:
    - Players were open to talks with 2 years left.
    - They initiated negotiations based on form, role, or wage expectations.
    - There was more dynamic interaction—e.g., players requesting extensions or pay bumps.

This would add depth to squad management and make Career Mode feel more alive.

These tweaks could make a huge difference for those of us who play long-term saves and prioritize realism. And when looking at what has been implemented in the game do not seem to me at least difficult to address.

  • Lets be honest. EA are getting lazy now. Sure, some of FC26 has potential, but while there is no competition on the shelves from other soccer titles, they will continue to release this title which has more bugs in it than roadkill. Every year its the same: Patch after patch. I understand that not every game is perfect and I get maybe an animation or clipping glitch that can be missed in testing but NO TACKLING!- seriously. Who tests this game? Let me guess, Madden enthusiasts or NBAers, because I don't see as much of a hashed game engine when playing the American Sports game. Imagine the day when EA releases Madden and the Quarterback no longer throws the ball- could you imagine the uproar? I can also bet that it would be fixed pretty quickly.

What I am getting at, is that tackling is a part of football. I shake my head in disbelief when I play the game with AI players putting their left leg in and their right leg out. Dancing around you like your the best looking girl at the party but with the guys frightened to make a move. I would be happy to eat a horse-**bleep** sandwich if I saw on YouTube, Reddit or any other platform, that five minutes of a proper football match had NO fouls and NO freekicks. Unless your 70 years of age and your playing walking football.

A month into its release and still no fouls, freekicks or penalties in game. Ironically, set pieces seem to be more important to teams now than ever- especially in the Premier League were set-piece coaches are a star attraction on the coaching staff.

But, while me, you and many thousands, maybe millions of others flock to the only soccer game on the market (PES- in know), to show our faith and trust in a game that rakes pounds and dollars in profit, EA will continue to do things their way. They know we will be back next year, with the usual sell of "New Engine- New Physics- Most realistic experience ever on the pitch", we will be back, and go through this all over again.

EA also needs to understand, that what THEY portray as football- IS NOT FOOTBALL. Just their definition of it. And official leagues back this game? Some have to save to purchase this game every season. PS5 games are not cheap. We just want what we pay for.

    And that is called FOOTBALL!!!!!!
