Immediate change needed

When im playing rivals and my internet is strong just because the opponenets internet is weak why im I facing the lag getting punished for this! Im paying for a good internet to enjoy the game but if game is not letting me, is it even a good game? Not gone buy any fc games until this issue is resolved.
