Manager Career: Player Contracts

I know it has already been discussed, but this issue is making me really not want to play the game. 

We should be able to negotiate player contracts at any time, especially at the beginning when players have release clauses. 

Another issue with the player contracts is if the player asks for a renewal, but you wait too long, they will always submit a transfer request. Example: This happened to me in my Coventry career. In February we were on track to achieve promotion to the Premier League. Bobby Thomas wanted a contract renewal and I wanted to renew his contract as well. The problem was that I wanted a new centre-back for the Premier League, so I waited until the end of the season so I could sign a new centre-back, and then renew Thomas' contract and give him rotation squad role. While doing so he was unhappy that I was waiting and submitted a transfer request.
