Please, Hear Me Out: A deeper Career Mode as an optional add-on
Hello, I’ve been playing FIFA / EA SPORTS FC for as long as I can remember, and Manager Career Mode has always been my favourite mode. I still enjoy the game, but I also think there is a big opportunity here that could make Career Mode much more valuable long-term — for players and for EA. A lot of Career Mode players don’t necessarily stop playing football games. They just start skipping releases when the mode does not change enough to justify buying the game every year. That means there is money being left on the table. One idea would be to build a much deeper Career Mode experience as an optional extra add-on. The normal Career Mode could still stay in the base game, like it is now. But there could also be something like: Career Mode Extended or Career Mode Plus. This would be a more detailed version for players who mainly buy the game for Career Mode and would be willing to pay extra for a much deeper experience. For example, this could include: keeping historic stats which get updated as the career goes on, smarter club AI and deeper staff management, realistic transfer logic (e.g. bidding wars, clubs chasing a player over multiple seasons, clubs buying/selling players based on managerial biases), deeper player development, more realistic and finance management (e.g. tha way transfers are paid, or salaries, and the way contracts are made), better scouting, logical and realstic squad building from AI teams, more real faces where possible, more immersive cutscenes, for example VAR-style moments. I understand that licensing can be complicated, especially with managers, leagues and real faces. But a lot of these things are already extremely important to the Career Mode community, and many modders show how much demand there is for more realism and immersion. This would not have to be a yearly full rebuild. EA could invest once into a much stronger Career Mode foundation, then build on that foundation in future games. Once the base systems are good, smaller yearly additions would feel much more meaningful. To make sure the mode actually reflects what Career Mode players want, EA could also work with a small selected group of experienced players from forums, Reddit, creators and modders. Not to let the community control development, but to create structured feedback that helps the team focus on the right things. For EA, I think the benefit is clear: fewer players skipping releases, more stable yearly sales, stronger trust from offline players, an extra paid product for a group that usually does not spend money in-game, less dependence on online trends alone Ultimate Team will obviously remain the main mode for many players. But Career Mode could become the stable offline base that keeps many people buying the game every year. I truly believe a deep Career Mode add-on would be something many fans would seriously pay for if it was done properly. Thanks for reading, and thanks for giving players a space to share ideas.
