Tokens - Feedback Megathread

Hey everyone!

Tokens are a brand new reward type in FC 26 and you can find a lot more details and information here: How to use Tokens in EA SPORTS FC™. as well as in our World's Game Update Pitch Notes article.

Since it's such a new feature and currency, we are curious to hear your thoughts on them and collect 
feedback in order to make some potential future changes.

Let me kick things off with a couple of questions:

  • What's your overall impression of Tokens?
  • Do you feel Tokens are earned at a fair rate? Any particular mode that you feel is lacking behind?
  • Are the available rewards worth the Tokens required?
  • Do you think the 1,000 Tokens limit each week is fair?
  • What's one thing you'd improve about the system?


We're looking forward to your feedback! If you don't mind, it would also help if you could differentiate between the Festival of Football Tokens and the FUT Champions Tokens.

  • Tokens are a great idea, only in my opinion, it should have been an addition to the reward system we used to have, but never a full replacement. It seems like you took away more than you offer now, without a single explanation, so, to sum up I want the old reward system back, and I don't think that the new token reward system is fair, comparing, to what we had before.

    I agree Nalchic​ - it seems like a great idea, and I have made use of 250 tokens to get three event card pack that I otherwise would have had no chance of getting, but it seems (like everything this year) to be so heavily skewed towards PvP and top end squad battles, that it seems more exclusive than the inclusive adjustment that it was touted to be.

    we will see how it plays out, and there might be some fine tuning, but the disproportionately low amount of tokens now available to semi-pro squad battle players, and the requirement to play pro and world class to get basic rewards, just seems like punishment for not being as good at the game as others.

    By all means the game should reward greater skill level, but I feel like the balance has shifted a bit too much with both these tokens and the “not the World Cup” objectives making it much harder to play the game at anything other than the highest level of PvE (or average level of PvP, which for some of us connection lag mean it is near impossible to play, let alone score and win)

    so, the TLDR version:

    Greta idea - love the concept - make it easier for lower level players to get them by having more “play” options, even if those options take twice as long to complete (you have points capped anyway, so it’s not like people can exploit it)

    Let me start off by clarifying that everything I say is in relation to FoF Tokens, as I don't play FuT Champs or Live Events and I have zero interest in competitive play, FC26 seems to be pushing to an extreme degree.

    I think tokens are an interesting concept, however the implementation overall isn't really working. The Token store is a nice addition, but looking at the amount of tokens needed for some of the rewards they feel unachievable. For example, the 96 rated icons in the token store are priced at 2,500 tokens. That means that to earn of of these card you have to max out the 1000 token limit twice and then achieve half of the limit again. If you don't play very specific game modes, you're effectively locked out of these rewards just because you don't want to or don't have time to commit to competitive play.

    I also question why it was felt yet more in game currency types were required. We had coins and FC points. Now we also have two types of tokens as well. So we're grinding for coins, grinding for objectives, grinding for FoF Tokens and grinding for Champs tokens (if you play that mode). I already spend a significant amount of time at work, FC should not feel like a second job which unfortunately, it's beginning to given the amount of grinding required.

    I think the amount of tokens dropped for rewards isn't the issue so much as what they're locked behind. By all means, put tokens behind competitive games modes and include them in rewards. That makes sense, I get it. But where it becomes unbalance, is where if you want the top rewards you MUST play these modes. Even if it takes longer, and alternative method to earn token would be a good implementation.

    As for the quality of rewards themselves, this is highly subjective as everyone's mileage will vary based on the rewards they've received. I've opened two of the of packs in the FoF Token store and have received 6 cards - 5 of them were 93 rated and 1 was 94 rated. In terms of volume, the 500 tokens I've spent would appear to be worth it but in actuality - none of these rewards cards have seen a second of gameplay. They simply don't fit my team. I used any left over tokens to unlock Amad and Sadio Mane who similarly, haven't seen gameplay (although this will change when the Africa objectives drop as I needed more African players to help with this objective.) So for me, it's a mixed bag - the majority of cards haven't felt like a reward in any way. Two of them will pay off eventually. But for me, generally rewards have not been worth it.

    The issue with the 1,000 Tokens limit each week isn't fairness. In an ecosystem where everything is geared heavily towards the top end of rewards for competitive players getting significantly better rewards than anyone else, the limit is needed. Make the tokens more accessible to all players and this is something which may be able to be relaxed or removed entirely. But as things are the 1000 token limit needs to stay.

    Which brings to me what prompted me to log back into this forum and post again after so long. Squad Battles rewards. To say I was disappointed with 200 tokens was an understatement. No packs, no coins just 200 tokens. So my entire reward for squad battles ended up being 3 cards after I put them into one of the token packs in the FoF Token Store. When I went to check the rankings, you can imagine my anger when I found out that player achieving bronze rankings are getting packs. The odds are low, but it remains possible for a bronze ranking player, to achieve better rewards than a player in the gold 1/elite 3 rankings. Doesn't seem entirely fair to me.

    As for things I would change? Firstly, stop the increasing shift towards competitive play being mandatory, there are those in your player base who have zero interest in competitive play. Secondly, actually balance the rewards properly and stop taking away packs from offline rewards. You've genuinely taken away more than you've given here and hiding that information is a patch list is nothing short of disingenuous.

    You asked for feedback EA, here are my honest thoughts. I'm not adding at TLRD, if you seriously want the feedback, reading a forum post really shouldn't be too much work. Having said that, with the state of the game this year, we all know whether you're really listening or not - and we all know what the answer to that is.

    Next time, my feedback won't be via forum post. It will be with my keeping my money in my wallet.

  • When I first saw it, I really liked the idea od the tokens - still kinda do. But again, it is rather poorly executed or it is on purpose to screw players over again that are not spending any money!

    When I looked at the rewards for squad battles, I could not believe it that all elite tiers et 400 tokens. No differentiation whatsoever. That is a pure scam. I think, there should be tokens, packs and coins. This really is a joke!

    I actually like to do SBCs, but without the pack rewards of Squad Battles and Rivals, I am pretty much screwed. This will eventually lead to me playing less in the future, I think.
    I will never pay any money! Never ever! 

    I really dislike EAs way of implementation. Good concept, but EA is just scamming players.
    I also do not like the limit of 1.000 tokens per week. It should be higher.

    So no, the new token concept is definitely not fair and overall, I dislike it, the way it is currently implemented.

  • The concept of tokens is good, but the implementation is lacking. In order to get anything worth your time, you are forced to play rivals/champs. For me, these modes have been unplayable in the majority of matches for months due to server delay. So, I play Rush & Squad Battles, but the rewards for these are just not good enough. To top it off, you no longer get currency rewards from these, which further locks you out of the open market.

    I also agree with the sentiment that there are too many currencies to grind. The game feels like a mobile gotcha game now. It isn't intuitive. This, coupled with the huge volume of objectives, makes the game feel stressful. The game feels like a 2nd job at this point, and I wonder what's the point in playing; if the gameplay is bad and the only means of getting packs forces you into the poor gameplay?

    Hello, I know there's a 1000 FOF tokens a week limit, and it makes sense. But the way it's being handled has problems.

    For instance, I completed Squad Battles on Saturday as Elite 3 and received 400 tokens. I haven't been able to play Squad Battles since, because if I do I'll unlock the 400 tokens and lose them, since I was already at around 700 tokens on Saturday.

    So I'll have to wait till Thursday evening, I think.

    The same goes for many objectives, if you click you lose the tokens.

    I was thinking: can't you make a "reservoir" where the excess tokens go, to be unlocked when the "token week" is over? This way you can keep the 1000 token limit, and we can be free to play what we want and click what we want without losing tokens.

  • I am heartbroken that time-limited content was connected to the new feature/currency, with such a short expiration date and seemingly no plan to recur. 

    I had more than enough Tokens to purches FoF PtG Amad, Schick, and Castrop, but did not know they would expire so quickly! I want them very badly. I did not have enough time to understand the new feature before those were already gone (and they are not implemented at all in the Mobile Companion App). This is a huge missed opportunity--not just for fans of Ivory Coast, Korea Republic, and Czechia, but for anyone like me who did not immediately understand a brand-new feature! That is such a shame. 

    PLEASE consider bringing these 3 cards back to the shop! I would buy them immediately!

  • I genuinely hate the change to tokens only as a reward. The token store is weak, the players offered are mid at best, and the rewards given do not match up to the time invested to get them. I liked the reward system the way it was, it didn't need changing. It's almost as if you are trying to do just enough to keep players playing but basically drip feed rewards and eliminate the ability to earn the coins and kill the transfer market. If tokens must be a thing they should be in addition to the previous rewards not instead of them. I play one to two modes at best and having a few paltry tokens as a reward cheapens my time spent playing the game.

    I came here to write exactly this. It’s not an issue with rivals as you get the rewards when the token limit refreshes but it’s becoming an issue with squad battles as rewards are Sunday so it’s either don’t claim objectives with tokens or don’t claim squad battle rewards till Thursday it shouldn’t be like this.

    Squad battle rewards either need to be moved to the same time as the token limit refresh or the tokens from squad battles be put into a pack that we can claim and open later.

    So I’ve claim squad battle rewards this morning for the 400 fof tokens (elite 1 reward) but I’ve only been given 80 of the tokens due to hitting the weekly limit of 1000. My reward for playing squad battles has been reduced because of the limit ? It’s a reward system shouldn’t a be getting the 400 tokens regardless of the limit as it’s a game mode reward not an objective or sbc reward??

    Once asked in Ea Supportchat I got told I needed to wait until resets if I’m near the limit 

    “You should avoid claiming those if you are near the limit and only claim those once it resets in the future.” Tapash (support technician) 

    This is wrong. It doesn’t matter if there’s a limit it’s a Game reward, that’s a set amount, you should get that reward for doing the requirements to get the reward in the first place. 
    Stop screwing over the people that play your game !
