Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed the departure of Vitor Pereira as head coach following their 2-0 away lose to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Wolves currently sit bottom of the Premier League table without a win from their first eight games and look to be favourites for relegation. The club have acted fast in replacing Vitor Periera with unknown manager Josh McEwen taking the reigns must to the disappointment of Wolves fans who are concerned that an unknown manager with no experience has been handed the tough task of saving Wolves from relegation woth a number of supporters clubs already criticising the appointment. A statement from Wolves was released earlier this morning.
Wolverhampton Wanderers can confirm that Vitor Pereira has left his position as head coach by mutual consent. The club wishes to express its gratitude to Vitor for his dedication and hard work during his tenure at Molineux.
This decision comes after a period in which results have unfortunately fallen short of both the club’s and supporters’ expectations. After careful consideration, the club’s leadership felt that a change was necessary not only to address immediate challenges on the pitch, but also to lay a stronger foundation for the long-term progress and success of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
In light of this, the club is pleased to announce the appointment of Josh McEwen, as Vitor’s successor. The club believes that Josh’s fresh approach and vision can help to turn the season around, instil renewed confidence in the squad, and set a positive course for the future. Wolverhampton Wanderers are committed to supporting Josh as he takes on this role and look forward to the next chapter under his leadership.
Josh added a brief statement saying “I am delighted to have been given this opportunity to manage Wolves, it is a club that belongs in the Premier league and our whole focus is on helping improve both performance and results on the pitch to ensure the club is still in the Premier League next season. I know concerns have been raised about myself being appointed but I urge our fans to get behind the players and give me the chance to show that I can turn this season around and keep this fantastic football club where they belong.”
Selling to rivals, but getting ridiculous money the other way. Your business so far has been rather responsible financially, so I wonder whether you are now going to spend crazy money yourself, or you'll continue with a somewhat sustainable approach...

Q: Josh a scare on the opening day but a 2-0 win in the end. A superb volley by Hugo Larsson to introduce himself to the Emirates crowd what are your thoughts on the game?
Josh McEwen “It was a tough game we didn’t perform like I know we can in that first half we didn’t create much but in the second half it was chance after chance we should have scored earlier but the boys kept working remained patient and we got the break through and then Hugo has scored an outrageous volley from just inside the box to secure an opening day win. It is why we signed him the quality he has and he is different to our other midfielders so he is going to be a great addition. We will get better I know that the main thing was to win the first game and we did that and now we move onto our next game.”
Q: Reggie a heartbreaking way to lose the opening game. Your team fought so hard how difficult is that result to take?
Reggie Hurst “It hurts a lot, the lads are devastated to be honest with you they worked so hard all pre season we came flying out the blocks which was our plan try and get at them early and we created two early chances but the thing we couldn’t afford was for them to find their rhythm which they did in the second half. It just really hurts because 2-0 flatters them to concede in the 88th minute of your first game back in the Prem against a team like Arsenal I think even though we lost a lot of teams will look at our performance and know they’re going to be in a tough game now.”
Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya, Laimer, Saliba, Pienczak, Lewis-Skelly, Zubimendi, Rice, Odegaard (Off 75), Saka, Gyokeres (Off 75), Newaneri (Off 75)
Subs: Kepa, Kayode, Mosquera, Bouaddi, Larsson (On 75), Eze (On 75), Martinelli, Trossard, Jesus (On 75)
Q: Lukas a really disappointing result for your team. How hard was it for your side today?
Lukas Funk “It was a tough day for us. It is disappointing because it is our first home game and we just never got going, when you win your opening game away from home you think ok lets back that up with a strong performance at home but we just couldn’t get near Arsenal. You have to give them credit we played a fantastic team who made us work out of possession and they had chances they put them away. Half time I said we need to show true fight here it was difficult when you end a game with 12% possession it is unlikely your getting any points but we had one chance and after the chance they go down the other end and make it three. Maybe we didn’t expect a fast break like they did because they were so patient maybe we were just to tired chasing back it was a clinical break and it wrapped up the game for them.”
Q: Josh absolute domination from your side from start to finish which saw your team rack up a very impressive 88% possession whilst still having seven shots. Was that the perfect performance?
Josh McEwen “What a performance oh my god wow. I look at some of the stats from the team today 98% pass accuracy, 88% possession, expected goals 2 and the defence side with David as well involved when we pass back to him he makes the right choice and it keeps them moving it was great to watch. Last week people said we weren’t at our best this week I don’t think I have seen a performance like this in my life from my team. Every player played a perfect game and we go back to back wins back to back clean sheets and we move on to the Wolves game next week.”
Subs: Kepa, Wijndal (On 57), Branthwaite (On 57), Bouaddi, Larsson (On 57), Eze, Martinelli (On 57), Trossard, Jesus
Wolves (4-3-3): Johnstone, Kabore, Krejci, Goes, Locko, Gomes, Hackney, Toth, Nelson (Off 57), Arokodare, George
Subs: Agirrezabala, Le Normand, Florentino, Hwang Hee Chan, Garcia, Doyle, Jeong, Arias (On 57), Agbadou
Q: Josh a different type of performance to the one at Bournemouth you were a little more direct but just as dominant. End of August top of the league with no goals conceded the perfect start would you say?
Josh McEwen “Probably the best way to describe the start maybe if Viktor completed his hat trick with his chance at the end it would be perfect haha. We are so happy today we changed a little bit how we played because of the rain and we knew Wolves would try and press us more with the extra man in midfield compared to Bournemouth but we were so good today we gave them very few chances and we could have scored more. It was nice to give some debuts out Kayode starting and then Owen (Wijndal) and Jared (Branthwaite) getting off the bench for their debuts at home and they were all fantastic it shows we have brought quality in and we are pleased with how the season has started.”
Q: Dylan bottom of the league after three games no team has less points since January that are still in the Premier League. How concerned are you?
Dylan Herbert “We know it has been a poor start but we’ve had some tough games. Today we were poor we can’t come to the Emirates and play so open and expect anything from the game but look we have to keep believing in what we’re trying to do and once our new players settle we are sure they will make an impact and we will start moving up the table. We can’t get ourselves in a position where we go ten games without winning like a few seasons ago we need results and we need them now but the performances have to improve for that to happen.”
Opening game a bit slow, but otherwise a perfect start in the new season with 9 points and 3 clean sheets. It seems your former club Wolves had a tough day at the office. Solid overview of matches in the league + CL. Atlético, Bayern and Barcelona will be tough, but the rest are teams you should beat more often than not.
Yeah we have some really tough games in the CL AS Roma away I expect will be difficult winning away in Italy is never easy. Wolves spent £40+ mil on a defender where was my backing like that I would have them bottom lol
Subs: Malagon, Ait-Nouri (On 62), Gibbs-White (On 88), Igor Jesus, Cunha, Hutchinson (On 79), Awoniyi, Dominquez, Carmo
Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya, Laimer, Saliba, Pienczak, Lewis-Skelly, Zubimendi, Rice, Odegaard, Saka, Gyokeres, Eze (Off 62)
Subs: Kepa, Wijndal, Branthwaite, Bouaddi, Larsson, Nwaneri, Martinelli, Trossard (On 62), Jesus
Q: Andoni a tough defeat against a very inform Arsenal. What are your thoughts on the match?
Andoni Iraola “We knew it would be a tough game because Arsenal have been in very good form but we wanted to try and cause them problems. I thought the first forty minutes it was a very even game but then they got the goal and then the second half starts and the plan was to try and get at them a bit more and then a wonder goal by Odegaard finds the top corner from twenty five yards and suddenly your playing a team who don’t concede a lot of chances and you need to find two goals so its a mammoth task but we kept going but yeah at 2-0 it was very hard.”
Q: Josh another win another clean sheet. Do you feel your proving your doubters wrong after what was written at the end of last season?
Josh McEwen “I don’t pay attention to what gets written I knew that the club was progressing and once we had a pre season together we would be in a better position to make the start we have. We aren’t getting ahead of ourselves there’s still thirty four games to go but we are really pleased with the start we’ve made and yeah we’ll move onto the Champions League game midweek before a really tough game against Manchester City next week.”
Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya, Kayode, Mosquera, Branthwaite, Wijndal, Bouaddi, Rice (Off 72), Larsson (Off 47), Nwaneri (Off 72), Jesus, Martinelli
Subs: Kepa, Lewis-Skelly, Saliba, Norgaard (On 72), Odegaard (On 47), Saka, Eze, Trossard (On 72), Gyokeres
Subs: Trott, Hatzidiakos (Off 47), Elyounoussi (Off 47), Moukoko (On 65), Garananga, Madsen (On 65), Chiakha, Achouri (On 58), Meling
Q: Josh a proud moment for Declan Rice as you named him captain of the club tonight but overshadowed by what looks like a serious injury to Hugo Larsson is there any update on him?
Josh McEwen ”When a player has to leave on a stretcher it is never good but we will wait for a scan and then we will see what the damage is but it wasn’t a bad challenge or anything which always raises concerns when a player is in alot of pain. It was hard the next ten minutes after this because as a player they’re worried about their team mate and obviously Hugo (Larsson) has made a big impact already hopefully it isn’t his ACL and he will be back soon. I thought it was a proud moment for a few lads Michael (Kayode), Jared (Branthwaite) and Owen (Wijndal) obviously it was Hugo’s first start but it ended bad for him but we did well to focus back on the game and to take three points in a tough match.”
Q: Jacob not the result you wanted but can you take some pride in your performance?
Jacob Neestrup “I think we can because we caused Arsenal more problems than they have been caused this season so far. They are a great team with world class players throughout and for most of the game we were in it. We reacted well to going a goal down we forced Raya into a couple of good saves but the danger with their team is they can counter obviously Jesus has a big chance he missed but Martinelli wrapped up the game but we can take pride coming away and giving Arsenal a tough match.”
Hugo Larsson will be out for four months after suffering medial Collateral Ligament injury the player does not require surgery but will undergo an extensive rehabilitation programme
Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya, Laimer (Off 67), Saliba, Pienczak, Lewis-Skelly, Zubimendi, Rice, Odegaard (Off 67), Saka, Gyokeres, Eze (Off 67)
Subs: Kepa, Wijndal, Kayode (On 67), Branthwaite, Bouaddi (On 67), Nwaneri (On 67), Martinelli, Trossard, Jesus
Manchester City (4-3-3): Donnarumma, Kimmich, Dias, Ake (Off 58), Mendes, Rodri, Reijnders, Silva (Off 66), Foden, Haaland, Doku (Off 58)
Subs: Oblak, Stones (On 58), Savinho (On 58), Mubama, Khusanov, Gonzalez, Dickson, Kovacic (On 66), Akanji
Q: Josh a special hat trick by Viktor Gyokeres in a huge game. Have you shown yourselves as true title contenders?
Josh McEwen “We believed from the first game of the season we could be title contenders, we are so happy with the quality in the team. After Hugo’s (Larsson) injury midweek I said to the lads you have to give even more today for him and you saw with his international team mate and friend Viktor (Gyokeres) scoring a hat trick. I think Viktor showed he is one of the top strikers in the world but also Martin (Zubimendi) showed he is up there with Rodri as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world he has been absolutely outstanding for us every game and I think he goes under the radar but he allows the rest of the team to really shine and I think he showed that today.”
Q: Gregorio a really bad day at the office you didn’t really create many chances to test David Raya. What went wrong?
Gregorio Gimenez “I actually thought we started so well the first twenty minutes we really pressed them and forced Zubimendi into a couple of mistakes but didn’t capitalise, we boxed them in a couple of times but then they scored a goal which Gigi (Donnarumma) has admitted he is disappointed to concede at his near post I mean it was a vicious strike but Gigi thinks he should be covering that. The second goal you just can’t believe your luck you challenge the initial header form the corner from the defender and it bounces down to their striker like that and the third we know we should be defending better but in the space of twenty minutes you’ve gone from being comfortable and causing issues to being out of the game. The second half we just weren’t good enough Erling (Haaland) kept pressing but it was like the rest of the team just dropped off but last season we started slow and won the league and we know there is a long way to go.”
Subs: Raya, Lewis-Skelly, Laimer (On 72), Mosquera, Bouadi, Nwaneri (On 72), Norgaard, Trossard, Jesus (On 72)
Tottenham Hotspur (4-2-1-3): Vicario, Doue (Off 73), Romero, Danso, De Cuyper, Bentancur (Off 72), Sarr, Simons (Off 87), Kudus, Tel (Off 87), Vega (Off 72)
Subs: Kinsky, Spence, Kulusevski (On 72), Solanke (On 87), Brown (On 73), Maddison (On 87), Richarlison, Bahoya (On 72), Vuskovic
Q: Josh a poor result for your team sees you exit the Carabao cup against your local rivals Tottenham. What are your thoughts on that game?
Josh McEwen “I think the scoreline flatters them but after the first half performance where we should have been two or three in front we fell apart when they equalised and stopped playing our game. We conceded two quick fire goals which really deflated us and then they've scored from a corner. It is a result that hurts because of who we were against but we have to refocus now we have a big game at weekend
Q: Mikel a superb fight back from your team today. How pleased are you with that result?
Mikel Arteta “I am very happy because we played a team in great form and we fought the whole game. The first half wasn’t our best performance but we kept battling and in the second half we were so dominant and deserved to progress. We had a tough start in the league and we want to fight our way back into the title race and this result will help our confidence moving forwards. We showed Arsenal are beatable and although we are nine points behind now we showed we can beat anyone on our day.”
West Ham United (4-1-4-1): Hermansen, Walker-Peters, Todibo, Kilman, Diouf, Soucek, Luis Guilherme, Paqueta, Fernandes, Cornet (Off 68), Thiele (Off 68)
Subs: Ferreira, Olivera, Gomes, Fullkrug (On 68), Mavropanos, Earthy, Green, Summerville (On 68), Cabral
Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya, Kayode (Off 68), Saliba, Pienczak, Lewis-Skelly, Bouaddi (Off 68), Rice, Odegaard, Saka, Gyokeres, Eze (Off 68)
Subs: Kepa, Branthwaite, Laimer (On 68), Mosquera, Zubimendi (On 68), Nwaneri (On 68), Norgaard, Martinelli, Jesus
Q: Nuno a fantastic effort from your team, how much does it hurt losing the game so late?
Nuno Espirito Santo “It hurts because we deserved a point today, we fought so hard from the start we created a couple of great chances to go ahead before they scored but against Arsenal you must take your chances. We went behind and responded well to equalise you have seen this season so many teams go behind to Arsenal and before you know it Arsenal are two or three in front we were the opposite we fought straight back and I think if we drew today nobody would say we didn’t deserve it because they struggled to create as many chances as they have so far but obviously at the end they scored and they got the win.”
Q: Josh a late win, were you nervous heading into them last ten minutes that this could have been two points dropped?
Josh McEwen “I always believed we could get the goal with the players we have we always have confidence in ourselves, obviously West Ham made it difficult for us but you expect that when playing away at their ground but we didn’t look as good as we have looked so far this season but the main thing is that we bounced back with a win and now our attention turns to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night in what will be an exciting game against the European Champions. We are looking forward to the test and showing that we have improved this season against them.”
Subs: Musso, O’Reilly, Simeone (On 74), Vlahovic, Ruggeri, Cardoso (On 83), Martin, Almada, Leon
Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya, Laimer, Saliba, Pienczak, Lewis-Skelly, Zubimendi (On 83), Rice, Eze (Off 74), Saka (Off 74), Gyokeres (Off 83), Nwaneri
Subs: Kepa, Kayode, Branthwaite, Mosquera, Wijndal, Martinelli (On 74), Norgaard, Bouaddi (On 74), Jesus (On 83)
Q: Martin not the start to the defence of the Champions League you have been looking for with a draw and now a heavy defeat at home. What are your thoughts on tonights game?
Martin Devos “Of course the start is not ideal but this competition is not won in the second game there is a long way to go. We had a tough game with PSG in our first game and tonight against Arsenal two teams who could win this trophy with their teams. Obviously at home in two games you want more than one point but I thought tonight we had moments where if we were a little more lucky we would have actually got something from the game at 2-1 we hit post and then they score at the other end so things like this affect the result but we played a top team who played very well.”
Q: Josh a 4-1 win against the European Champions that must feel good?
Josh McEwen “Yeah I’m so proud of the lads tonight we came here knowing they would be physical and they were but we played with bravery and we played some fantastic football at times Ethan (Nwaneri) produced some magical moments his best performance I thought but Bukayo (Saka) another goal he is so good he has been the best player in the world since this season started the challenge now is for him to continue in this vein of form. I told him at the start of the season don’t go looking for the ball pick up the ball in the dangerous areas where we need you on the ball and look at what he is doing now, he has been unstoppable at times and we feel lucky to have him here. I also have to mention young Ayyoub (Bouaddi) coming off the bench is never easy but to come into this type of game and deliver like he did I am so proud of him.”
Ha! Funny to see Spurs beating you 4-1 away from home when the exact opposite happened yesterday IRL. It's not necessarily a bad thing to be out of the Carabao Cup though. There are plenty of games in other tournaments, so cutting off the least important one is probably not a bad thing, despite the fact that Spurs fans will be talking about this one for years...
Gyökeres and Saka, wow, what a deadly duo for you, currently tied in the race for the golden boot.
It was actually a trophy I thought was important in terms of getting that first trophy under our belts but we lost so we'll have to use it as a positive that we have less games we already have a lot anyway with CL football.
Saka has been crazy last season he wasn't this good
Q: Josh first points dropped in the league this season. You started Bouaddi in midfield but he was subbed at half time do you regret the decision not to play Odegaard from the start and what did you say to both Bouaddi and the team at half time?
Josh McEwen “Martin (Odegaard) couldn’t play ninety minutes so we have a choice he play for the start but has t come off or he comes off the bench we chose the latter. When you are 2-0 down you can’t keep Martin on the bench Ayyoub (Bouaddi) understands this of course it wasn’t his best performance but he knows how much we love and rate him and we appreciate him playing in a more advanced role which isn’t his position but obviously Hugo (Larsson) and Michael have both been injured and Eze had a knock from the game midweek so Ayyoub came in and ave his all. We love Ayyoub he has the most bright future ahead of him but there will be some hard times like today but we will help him bounce back he wasn’t the only player to struggle and it doesn’t make us doubt any of them.”
Q: Marco devastating to concede an equaliser you must have thought it was won when Saka went through one on one in the 93rd minute and Rulli pulled off that remarkable save. How are you feeling?
Marco Silva “Of course we are sad because we play one of the top teams in the division away from home and we go 2-0 up after playing so well and to concede from two corners it really hurts us because from open play we kept them relatively quiet. We tried our best to always mark Saka with two players we had to in midfield try to close Zubimendi fast which lead to our first goal taking the ball from him and then we wanted to be clinical in front of their goal and we were today but Arsenal have a lot of quality and we knew second half they would come out with a vengeance but unfortunately we concede at the start of the half and then obviously they score with the last moment of the game to take a point.”
Manchester United (5-2-3): Lammens, Henrichs, Maguire, Yoro, de Ligt, Mendy, Mainoo, Ruiz, Mbuemo, Sesko, Rashford (Off 74)
Subs: Bayinder, Carlos Augusto, Cunha, Zirkzee, Aljofree, Johnson, Hojlund, Madueke (On 74), Odogu
Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya, Kayode, Mosquera, Pienczak, Lewis-Skelly, Zubimendi, Rice, Odegaard (Off 75), Saka, Gyokeres (Off 75), Nwaneri (Off 75)
Subs: Kepa, Branthwaite (On 45), Laimer, Norgaard, Wijndal (On 45), Eze (On 75), Martinelli (On 75), Bouaddi, Jesus (On 75)
Q: Goncalvo twice you took the lead and lost in almost immediately was it those moments straight after your goals that have cost you today?
Goncalvo Alvares “In a game like this against an opponent like these you have to stay switched on, their first goal was a fantastic strike from distance but the second we should be more switched on and not allow a one on one so soon after we scored but they are a top opponent who punished us in those moments. I think the first half was really even we showed we can compete with them but the second half we weren’t good enough we knew they wouldn’t be as open but we should keep the ball better and work harder to find openings.”
Q: Josh a fantastic win with some fantastic goals for both sides. At half time you took off Pienczak and Lewis-Skelly who really seemed to struggle what did you say to them about taking them off?
Josh McEwen “They didn’t perform to their usual standard, Marek made a couple of mistakes he gave the ball away for their first goal and gave it away again at 3-2 which saw Sesko go one on one but luckily he shot wide. Lewis-Skelly gave away the freekick they scored from and was on a booking we couldn’t afford to go down to ten men if your having a poor game we have the quality to come on and make a difference it is the same for everyone at the club I have spoken to both players they know we don’t change that we believe in them but they are both young and sometimes it is better for them to come off and rest and then go again in the next game. Of course for young defenders they rely on William (Saliba) to help them but he was injured on international duty so missed the game but he will be back next week he will miss midweek as more of a precaution than the injury itself.”
Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya, Laimer, Mosquera, Branthwaite, Lewis-Skelly, Bouaddi, Rice (Off 59), Eze, Saka (Off 59), Jesus, Martinelli
Subs: Kepa, Pienczak, Kayode, Norgaard (On 59), Wijndal, Odegaard, Nwaneri (On 59), Zubimendi, Gyokeres
Q: Josh another win to maintain your perfect start to your Champions league campaign. How important is it for you that you finish in the top eight and avoid extra games?
Josh McEwen “It is important because we already play a lot of games so if we can avoid extra games it would be nice as we get extra rest and extra time on the training ground. Today we made some changes to the team and I thought everyone really showed their quality. Ayyoub (Bouaddi) started a little nervy but once he settled the whole team seemed to settle with him and we managed to score some great goals Dec’s (Rice) free kick was amazing he is a machine the way he plays every game and keeps himself fit and ready for the next game him I think it is a testament to the work he puts in off the field.”
Q: Jindrich a tough game for any side to get anything out of. What did you make of your sides performance?
Jindrich Trpisovsky “Of course Arsenal are one of the best teams in Europe and we came here knowing it would be a really difficult game even with the changes they made. They have some of the best players in the world you look at how Bukayo Saka has started this season and also Declan Rice and you realise how much of a mammoth task we faced but we showed heart and we hit the post so we caused them problems but their quality was on show and we didn’t have those moments of luck. My boys can hold their heads high we still have a big chance to qualify for the next rounds with a long way to go.”
Subs: Jedlicka, Dodgson, Larsen, Broja, Smolcic, Hannibal (On 71), Hountondji, Ramsey (On 68), Heaven
Q: Josh a 3-0 win but not as comfortable as the scoreline might suggest. Marek Pienczak scored his first goal under your management, your team have found a knack of scoring late goals so far this season what do you attribute that to?
Josh McEwen “The team just keep believing they can score, we started very poorly today in the first half we never really got going even the start of the second half we were poor but the main thing is we got another win and after we scored our first it really lifted the crowd which in turn lifted the team and we managed to get a couple more goals which really wrapped the game up.”
Q: Alexander a 3-0 loss in the end but do you think the result flattered them especially considering the chances you created in the first half?
Alexander Skovgaard “It was one of them games that we played superb for probably seventy minutes we had two chances in the first half the first where the ball falls to Mike (Tresor) and he should have probably scored with the goal open and then ten minutes later we’ve gone and hit the bar. I think you have seen quite a few teams create chances against Arsenal and they have punished everyone that hasn’t taken them and today we were the victims of that. Its a long season and this performance not the result but performance has given me confidence.”
rystal Palace (4-5-1): Henderson, Lewis, Guehi, Mancini, van de Ven, Pino, Wharton, Kamada, Loftus-Cheek, Yilmaz (Off 66), Lookman
Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya, Laimer, Saliba, Pienczak, Lewis-Skelly, Zubimendi, Rice, Odegaard (Off 66), Saka, Gyokeres, Jesus (Off 66)
Subs: Kepa, Branthwaite, Kayode, Mosquera, Wijndal, Bouaddi, Eze (On 66), Martinelli, Nwaneri (On 66)
Q: Vitor a huge win for your side today taking Arsenals unbeaten record so far this season. How pleased are you with todays result?
Vitor Pereira “I am so happy with the way we performed today, Arsenal are one of the best teams in Europe and obviously they have started the season so well so it was very important that we were at our best and I thought we were today. We made things difficult for them the five I midfield outnumbered them and although they had a lot of the ball we didn’t let them create the chances they normally create. We know our quality and after ten games I think we have shown how good we are especially with this result today.”
Q: Josh a disappointing result for your side. What went wrong today?
Josh McEwen “We just weren’t at it today, it was a poor performance from our lads. I have to take the blame we made some changes Gabriel (Jesus) deserved a chance to start but obviously we have Viktor (Gyokeres) up front so we started him on the wing where he wasn’t as effective for us. Look we are disappointed we know how good we can be on our day but the last few performances we haven’t hit them heights and our job now is to work hard in training to start righting them wrongs.”
Perfect run over, and Chelsea take top spot. Still in a good position though, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Glad to see Man United recovering a bit too, currently in a top 4 spot. Rashford is back performing, good to see.
I get what you mean with getting that first trophy. But that would also be an Arsenal classic wouldn't it? Often doing well in the cups, but struggling to take it the last step in the league - and of course also the Champions League that is still unknown territory for them. But of course, a trophy is a trophy, and better to be in the race than out of it.
