AJAX DEFEATS HEERENVEEN IN INJURY TIME
If Heerenveen would've managed to take a point away from Amsterdam back home, it would've been very much against the image of the match. However, Joeri Heerkens being too far in front of his goal, allowed Heerenveen-striker Dylan Vente to lob the ball over the keeper into the net.
Ajax were clearly the better side, but as more often this season it lacks the clinical finish in front of goal. That is, with the exception of Kasper Dolberg who is still runs 1-on-1. 'We're playing fire. Everytime, we fail to take a clear lead, we run the risk of getting late goals against. Today it fell in our favour, but tomorrow we could get one on the chin.'
However, it was Oscar Gloukh who was the hero. In the last of three minutes of injury time, the attacking midfielder miraculously got the ball in front of his feet during Ajax last ditch effort. The ball went in and three points were saved. A crucial win, as none of the teams in pursuit made an error: dropping points would've meant to give up the lead position in the standings for Ajax.
