Demoted from Elite to Div 1 during Playoffs

Our club (ATLAS LIONS) was sitting in the Elite division. When playoffs started, we didn’t have our full squad online, so we decided to hold off on our playoff matches and just played friendlies instead.

The day after we got online, finally played our playoff matches, but we noticed the menu is telling us we are "Current: Division 1" instead of Elite. I contacted EA about this, and they told me it was only a bug and that we would receive our Elite achievements. However, today when the playoffs ended, we only received the Division 1 achievements.

Is this normal? Did playing friendlies during the playoff window somehow demote us, or is this just a visual bug with the division badge? Thanks in advance for the help!
