Controller suddenly no longer recognized – controls switch to keyboard controls

Hello

I play on PC, and I can often use the menu or play squad battles, but when I go into Rivals, the game recognizes my keyboard as the main controller, so it switches to keyboard controls and I can no longer use the controller. But it would work with the keyboard. How can I control this? I've had to quit over 20 games because of this. 

I'm in borderless mode. Could it have something to do with switching to another Windows window in-game and then back to the game?

Please fix this, it's so annoying.
