I won't be buying FC 27.
The only reason I haven't completely stopped playing FC 26 is because I've invested so many hours into it this year. The game isn't bad because it doesn't perfectly replicate real football—no football game does that. I can accept things like attackers hiding behind defenders instead of attacking space. That's just how EA designed the game, and you adapt.
You also can't expect to win every match. I'm not a professional player.
What I can't accept, and the reason I don't want anything to do with future editions, is the extreme inconsistency.
The game constantly gives you the feeling that something just isn't right.
Take the Knockout Glory tournaments, for example. I won the first one on my third attempt. Now, in the second tournament, I've reached the semi-finals or the final around ten times and lost every single time.
Did I suddenly forget how to play in a few days?
That's not even the frustrating part. It's how those matches are lost.
I don't want to throw around terms that have been debated for years regarding this game, but despite all the complaints from me and countless other players this year, EA has never provided a real explanation.
Instead, they keep sending emails to inactive accounts claiming, "We're finally listening to the community."
Seriously? Aren't you embarrassed?
In those finals I'll often score first, everything feels smooth, and then suddenly the game changes. My players become heavy, I can't complete a simple pass in the opponent's half, their defenders leave absolutely no space, while my own defence falls apart. I'm constantly trying to drag players back into position, but nothing responds anymore.
I can't build attacks.
I can't play out from the back.
Nothing works.
So what exactly is happening?
Then you decide to leave Ultimate Team behind for a while—the objectives, the toxic players, the endless grind—and try Career Mode instead.
What a disaster.
Even offline it often feels like the game is working against you.
Career Mode has become repetitive and shallow. You try creating your own storylines to keep things interesting, but instead you just end up frustrated.
You can build a squad full of 90-rated players in a league where most teams are around 70 overall, yet if you simulate matches you'll constantly draw or even lose, while your title rivals somehow win almost every game.
Even the Highlights mode feels unfair. If you play only attacking highlights, you'll score, then suddenly see the scoreboard showing the opponent leading 2-1 before you've even had another meaningful chance.
Then there are the completely unrealistic objectives.
You take a club from the bottom divisions of England all the way to the Champions League, and suddenly the board expects you to win every competition because you've had one successful season—even if that club has never achieved anything remotely similar in real life.
Take almost any small club from a weaker league, win the domestic title once, and next season you're expected to reach the Champions League semi-finals.
Post-match interviews are still repetitive and meaningless.
Player morale still makes no sense.
Your sixth-choice striker complains about not starting every week.
Transfer logic is still broken.
You still can't sign players during the final six months of their contracts.
Free agents are still filled with 16- or 17-year-olds who already have huge overall ratings but never develop any further.
You receive endless offers for one of your best players, worth €90 million, but no club is willing to offer even €91 million after he scored 50 goals the previous season.
Even the gameplay itself suffers from many of the same problems as Ultimate Team.
Passes still ignore obvious passing lanes.
The ball still finds players standing offside.
Rebounds remain completely unpredictable.
Outside of the biggest leagues, squads barely receive meaningful updates throughout the year, and even top leagues contain player ratings that have little connection to real-life performances.
Every year EA talks about innovation, yet nothing truly revolutionary is added that justifies buying a new game.
Ultimate Team remains the only mode receiving significant attention, but instead of being built around enjoying football, it's designed to consume your time, your money, and your patience.
Every week brings another promo featuring many of the same players.
You're constantly made to feel like you need the latest cards just to stay competitive.
But in reality, those new cards don't necessarily perform better. Instead, it often feels like older cards quietly become less effective, while the new ones simply perform the way the previous generation of cards used to.
Even now, with players boasting 99 Pace or 99 Shooting, they don't feel much stronger than 90-rated cards did a couple of months ago.
Gameplay remains full of inconsistencies.
Journey of Nations objectives were another strange example. EA tried to build hype around the Club World Cup content, but it ended up feeling underwhelming. I expected players from qualified nations to become highly valuable, yet most objectives were simply about scoring goals in specific ways or completing certain types of passes.
Even crossing objectives make little sense when crossing itself is one of the least reliable mechanics in the game.
As an adult, I honestly think the healthiest decision is to stop buying anything related to EA FC.
Maybe the game is entertaining for streamers or younger players impressed by flashy animations, weekly promos, legends, and over-the-top celebrations.
For me, though, that's not quality entertainment anymore.
