Goalkeeper Reactions and Strength are misleading in Evolutions
Hi EA Team,
I’d like to raise an issue regarding goalkeeper attributes in FC 26, especially in connection with Evolutions.
From gameplay experience and stat analysis, the “Reactions” attribute seems to have a major impact on how quickly a goalkeeper triggers save animations. However:
- It is not included in most Evolution upgrades
- It is not visible in the main GK face stats
- It cannot realistically be improved
This leads to situations where a goalkeeper has:
- 90+ Reflexes
- 85+ Positioning
…but still performs inconsistently due to low Reactions (e.g. 55–65), resulting in delayed animations, freezes, or poor responses to rebounds.
Additional confusion: Strength
Another unclear aspect is the Strength attribute.
Many players assume that higher Strength will:
- push shots further away
- improve parries
- make saves “stronger”
However, in practice, Strength seems to only affect:
- physical duels
- collisions
- aerial challenges
…and not the actual save outcome or ball deflection quality.
Why this is a problem:
- Evolutions suggest you can “build” a goalkeeper
- But key attributes like Reactions cannot be improved
- Strength appears misleading in terms of its actual impact
- Important mechanics are not clearly communicated
Suggestions:
- Include Reactions in Evolution upgrades
- Make Reactions visible in GK face stats
- Clarify the role of Strength for goalkeepers
- Improve transparency on how GK attributes affect gameplay
Right now, it feels like some goalkeeper attributes act as hidden limiters, which reduces the effectiveness and clarity of Evolutions.
Would appreciate clarification on whether this is intended.
Thanks!
