Is EA allowed to do this?

There was a evo chain on thunderstruck Diomande, with the black friday and Il Catenaccio evo's. He turned into a beast. Lot's of people gave him intercept +, which was an evo you had to do an 85 sbc for. The thunderstruck stated "max 1 ps+" , so people assumed they would just not get the ps+ from thunderstruck upgrades. 

Instead of that, EA decided it was a good idea to let their PS+  upgrade override the sbc evo. People would have been happy if it's "first come first serve" with those ps+ . But now they botched a card, made a sbc evo upgrade invalid, and people threw away one of the best ps+ .  Certainly there should have been a better solution to this, right?
