Manual Defending

What is up with the manual defending and I mean seriously. No matter how perfectly I position my defender for an interception it’s a toss up on if my player will actually lift their foot to intercept. The ball will LITERALLY roll over their foot and they’ll do nothing. Tackling is more consistent than intercepting but I’ll run into the same problem going for a tackle occasionally and even then it’s another coin flip on if it’s a bounce back or not. I understand the ai defending nerf I really do but how are the inconsistencies in the manual defending not being talked about here. It just seems incredibly unrewarding and probably a huge reason the ai defending needed to be abused in the first place. Also feel the need to note that at this point in the game my whole back line and cdms have either intercept+ or base along with some serious defending stats so that the players shouldddddntttt be the issue right? This is my experience in MOST games and then SOME games it functions like it feels like it should. Just me?
