I don’t see how it wouldn’t be the biggest skill increase. Some wouldn’t even be able to score a goal on manual or even make a pass. I think people are just used to smashing buttons on offense.
I'm not disagreeing, obviously making the offense more manual will increase the skill gap. But it doesn’t fix the core issue with the gameplay. The game has too many mechanics that require barely any input for high reward, which kills the incentive to learn and improve. I don’t see how holding one button to dribble effectively around a defender feels rewarding or skillful.
Until EA starts valuing complexity and rewarding real user control, the skill gap will keep decreasing. And if they make offense manual without first reworking these oversimplified mechanics, they’ll just become even more overpowered
