Patch review - the good and the bad: ✅ R1 Nerf ❌ Defensive AI Buff
Good ✅
The dribbling is far more balanced and rewarding now. After the R1 dribbling nerf.
I get why some people may like R1 Dribbling, it was strong and felt responsive, but that was the issue. It let you escape good defensive positioning for free at almost max sprint speed, with the ball glued to your feet, which lowers the skill gap. Dribbling should be challenging; you should be rewarded for your execution of feints, traps, left stick precision and proper skill moves. Not for cheap mechanics.
Naturally those who benefited from it will try to defend it, but the disadvantage when you don't use it vs someone who abuses it, is obvious. That's the definition of an unbalance.
Bad ❌
The defending AI buff is another story though, I think they went a little too far. Manual tackles seem far too strong, players win the ball from 5-yard lunges with unreal precision. There seems to be more animations for auto-tackles now, making them even stronger. So, for me the main issue with this patch, is how it’s become too defensive. Both manually and automated.
