I am completely locked out of playing EA SPORTS FC 26 Showcase via Steam. Every single time I attempt to launch the game from my library, the game begins running for about a minute before throwing a Windows system popup error:
"Error: We've noticed your computer is currently offline. To activate your game on this computer using your EA Account, you'll need to connect to the Internet."
I am completely online, my network connection is fine, and I have even tried creating an entirely new Steam account and a brand-new EA account to fix this, but the error persists.
Key Diagnostic Discovery:
I navigated to the hidden Windows directory to check my activation tokens at:
C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License
This folder is completely empty. The EA App client is completely failing to request or download the initial .dlf digital entitlement/activation token from the EA authentication nodes, which causes the game to default to the "offline" error message.
Troubleshooting Already Attempted (None of these worked):
Account Tweaks: Created a brand-new Steam profile and a brand-new EA Link profile.
App State: Launched the EA App manually first, logged in, left it open on the desktop, and launched Steam second.
Cache Purging: Ran the EA App "App Recovery" utility to clear caches, and manually deleted the EA Desktop folders in both %localappdata% and %programdata%.
Steam Integrity: Ran a full game file verification check via Steam.
Network Flushes: Reset network protocols via admin command prompt (ipconfig /flushdns, netsh winsock reset, netsh int ip reset, and netsh winhttp reset proxy).
DNS Modification: Changed IPv4 DNS settings to Google DNS (8.8.8.8) and Cloudflare DNS (1.1.1.1).
Firewall Rules: Added manual inbound/outbound exceptions for the main executable inside Windows Defender Firewall for both Public and Private networks.
System Details:
Game Version: EA SPORTS FC 26 Showcase (via Steam)
Connection Type: Wired LAN Ethernet (Machine does not have a Wi-Fi network card module)
OS: Windows 11
Since the local License folder remains empty, the EA desktop app is silently blocking or dropping the secure handshake needed for first-time activation. Is there a known server routing block or a specific background service execution issue causing the client to fail to drop the token? Any actual dev or community fixes would be highly appreciated.I am completely locked out of playing EA SPORTS FC 26 Showcase via Steam.
