Game doesn't recognise controller (Dec 15th)

Sometimes I load the game from Steam and controller works fine in every menu, but as I enter the match I can't select and/or switch players which leads me to call for a pause and quit the game. (Unplugging and reconnecting is completely useless mid game). The match itself just won't recognise the controller and the only fix is to completely close the game AND steam. Opening the game without controller and connecting while in menus also means the controller will NEVER be recognised. RARELY the controller works fine and maybe an hour in this problem comes up. 

This is the must frustrating technical problem as I've had to quit out of multiple champs games and even messed up my rivals promotion.....It's DECEMBER.
