Game make me use a keyboard and mouse instead of controller

Whenever i first log into fc26 i try to go into say a rivals game, if i don't open the friends menu so it says "new input connected" (doesn't always work) or start and quit a squad battles game it makes me use keyboard and mouse instead of controller, i've gotten at least 20 losses because of this and pisses me off every time i play the game. In games like rivals there should be an option to change the input to play the game or not have this issue to begin with when im obviously using my controller in the menus.
