No Audio in FC26 – Sound Gradually Stopped Working

Subject: No Audio in FC26 – Sound Gradually Stopped Working

Hello Support Team,

I am experiencing an audio issue in FC26. Initially, the sound problem started gradually. Some sounds would randomly disappear or become inconsistent during gameplay and menus. Over time, the issue became worse, and now the game has completely no sound at all.

Details:

  • Game: FC26
  • Platform: PC
  • Issue: No audio in-game or in menus
  • Problem progression: Started gradually and eventually resulted in complete loss of sound
  • Other games: Audio works normally outside FC26

Troubleshooting attempted:

  • Restarted the game and device
  • Checked in-game audio settings
  • Verified system sound settings
  • Updated audio drivers/system updates

Please help me diagnose and resolve this issue. Let me know if additional information or logs are required.

Thank you.

Thanks for gathering the DxDiag. That helps a ton. Here are some suggestions.

You're using Realtek and Intel Smart Sound audio stack. It's a combination that can cause issues after Windows updates. You should update the driver, but this needs to be done offline so that Windows doesn't automatically update it. Please follow these steps:

    1. Disconnect from the internet
    2. Remove audio devices completely. Open the Device Manager. Uninstall all of these if they're present: Realtek(R) Audio, Intel Smart Sound Technology, Nvidia High Definition Audio, Intel SST Controller. Check "Delete the driver software for this device". Repeat that for each one and reboot.

Next, you need to install the drivers in this order:

    1. Intel Chipset
    2. Intel SST driver
    3. Realtek Audio driver
    4. Optional: Waves MaxxAudio

Once this is done, reboot and try playing again.

If this doesn't help try disabling audio enhancements.

    1. Go to Settings > System > Sound > More sound settings
    2. Under speakers and headphones, check the box to Disable ALL enhancements
    3. Under the Advanced tab, try 24 bit, 48000 Hz or 16 but, 48000 Hz
    4. Disable "Enable audio enhancements" and "Spatial sound"

Let me know what happens. If these don't help, we'll try something else.

Hey there. Thanks for getting in touch. What do you play the audio through normally? Have you verified the right device is selected? If so, please gather a DxDiag report. I'll look it over for any issues. Instructions for that can be found in this article.
