Player Career mode

Just finished my first season at Porto , was eligible for two contracts , one to Bilbao the other to an Irish club. At the end of the season I couldn't switch clubs or accept the contract offers and could only stay at Porto.  Is this a consistent problem or just me and is there anyway to fix this? Don't wanna play another season then can't sign to another club. Player career not manager .
