Re: Connecting to Ultimate Team is not possible in Arizona, Texas, and Mexico

I pre-ordered FC26 for approximately$100 specifically for the one-week early access. Now that early access is live, myself and multiple friends using Cox Communications in Louisiana and Texas are completely unable to connect to the Ultimate Team servers.

This appears to be a specific regional issue with Cox ISP routing to your game servers. The fact that it's affecting a cluster of users in a specific geographic area points to a problem that needs investigation from your network team.

We paid for a product and a promised benefit (early access) that we are not receiving. Therefore, we are not only entitled to a refund for the early access portion but also some form of compensation for the lost time and broken promise. This could be in-game currency, packs, or an extension of the early access objectives   once the issue is resolved.

Please acknowledge this issue and provide a timeline for a fix.

I’m in Louisiana on Cox and seeing the same issue. I ran tracert/pathping to EA’s servers (159.153.71.17) and the route consistently stalls at a Cox aggregation node in Dallas: dalsbprj01-ae1.rd.dl.cox.net, IP 68.1.2.109, before handing off to Zayo transit. Pathping shows 100% loss at that hop, and while direct pings to it succeed, traffic going through it toward EA is unstable. When I connect through a VPN, Ultimate Team works without issue, which points to a Cox to Zayo peering problem on the route EA traffic is taking. This is regional. Friends on Cox in both Louisiana and Texas are affected, but my PS5 works fine on AT&T Fiber. EA support/network team, please escalate this with Cox/Zayo, because it’s clearly an ISP routing/peering issue rather than a console or account problem.

I also have Cox internet in Oklahoma and for the entirety of early access and now INTO FULL RELEASE. I have not been able to access UT, or other online modes. I'm beyond fed up. With constantly checking on Twitter/X for updates. TWO whole updates being pushed out. Them ACKNOWLEDING these issues. Now TWO squad battle rewards are being rewarded, with multiple objectives, and packs, and SBCs, that I have NO CONTROL OVER. I am missing out. I'm so disappointed because I EXPECT compensation, but highly doubt we will receive it... I also love how on the day of Full release they put out a promo... Not even a DAY into full release. But yet I know this HAS to be at LEAST 10% of people in NA having this issue. But so far nothing has been done.

This has cost me time, effort, and money. I just finally was able to play a match of SB. Got all the way to the end. Winning: 6-1. Hit advance to score up my match and send me back to main menu?... Unable to connect to EA servers at the moment. Please try again later. Goes back to check... Yup. Lost the match from the DC: 0-3.

I'm tired of asking.. I want to know when this will be fixed, and what they plan to do about it.

There are YouTube videos on the process to get your PS5 on a VPN that can explain it better than me. What has also been working is using my mobile hotspot as the PS5 network connection. That is probably the easiest thing to try if you don't already pay for VPN service.

EA says they’re looking into “unusually high ping” in matches. Funny thing is, that’s probably the same root cause as what Cox customers across the States are seeing.

Here’s the thing: since Cox routing to EA is broken, the only way people can play is by using a VPN. But a VPN adds encryption overhead and slower routes. That means when non-Cox players get matched with someone forced to use a VPN, the connection is always going to be slower and ping spikes higher.

So the “high ping investigation” and the “Cox players can’t connect” problem are really two sides of the same coin.

This probably isn’t 100% EA’s fault — internet routing is messy — but it’s on EA to get their network team to coordinate with Cox so this gets fixed quickly. Until then, we’re stuck with either no game or laggy matches.
