Screen frozen in Career Manager offline

Has anyone encountered this? Playing FC 26 on an XBox X, offline Career Manager mode. Everything worked fine for days, then all of a sudden, when I went into the Squad Hub, everything froze with only the word "unavailable" displayed.  All controls stopped working.  When I reboot the device, I can play other EA games, so it's not a connectivity problem. But as soon as I bring up FC26, it goes straight back to this screen, with no way out. The game is now completely unplayable as a result. 

Is there a solution short of deleting and reinstalling the game?  And if that's the only solution, is there a way to recover the saved career file so I don't have to start over?
