It's crazy that people would take it to that level over a video game. We have to look at the whole situation. Toxic messages are usually a result of toxic gameplay. Look at what the OP said above.
I agree with some of what he said. I can understand celebrating the first goal or a late winner. It's really annoying when it's complete mismatch and my opponent goes through the full celebration and replay after the 6th or 7th goal (I have 0 goals). Add pausing after every goal to this as well.
I can also understand playing possession in the backfield to secure a close victory. What's the of doing that when he's got a 4+ goal lead? He plays like he would "off" himself if he conceded 1 goal. Add doing useless skill moves on top of that.
Seems like some miserable people only exist to make the game less fun for others. Maybe players should be gracious in victory.
To summarize, I don't support sending toxic messages. I think it's a response to a bigger issue, toxic gameplay. The solution would be for EA to remove messaging all together. With regard to the toxic gameplay, EA should add the option for players to forfeit without being penalized. For example, if one player takes a 3-0 lead within the first 20 minutes of the game, the loser can forfeit without losing coins.
Fifa/FC has been toxic in that way for years. People are pretty much trying to get you to quit, but as you said you get punished for it so most people aren't going to now. All video games have a toxic community, and unfortunately there isn't much that can be done about it unless their toxicity goes too far. I've spent so many years on these games and others that toxicity is like water off a ducks back, so it's probably why I don't notice it as much.
