Yea squaddies is pretty horrible to play this year due to the changes.
I used to play most of my games on Legendary last year, it was annoying but I never lost a game. I wouldn't even risk going above World Class this year. With how bad defending is there's no point, you'd never have the ball, the AI basically never makes mistakes and passes anytime you get remotely close to one of their players. Not to mention the fact that half the time you get near the player with the ball, they'll just run directly backward toward their goal.
Sure having a good team is helpful, but I don't think it'll matter when it comes to squaddies this year. The AI is just to weird to play against. It never takes a risk, never passes a lob or over the top through ball, it just plays constant possession.
