TOTY HM Evolution blocked after cosmetic card design (Nyoni)

Hello,

I’m experiencing an issue with the Build your TOTY HM Evolution in Ultimate Team.

Player: Nyoni

Platform: PlayStation

Before completing the final evolution step (PlayStyle+ selection / First Touch+), I applied a cosmetic-only Winter Wildcards card design.

This cosmetic evolution did not change any stats, position or playstyles, only the card appearance.

After that, the final TOTY HM Evolution step is no longer available, neither on console nor in the Companion App.

The evolution appears to be blocked, even though the cosmetic design should not affect gameplay evolutions.

This seems unintended and looks like a bug with evolution eligibility after cosmetic-only card designs.

Could this please be investigated or forwarded to the dev team?

Thank you.

Wow amazing , EA moderators keep deleting my post how they promised that this nonsense will be part of this game!

    SAME Issue here!

EA, honestly if you cant track down internally which card is being manually evolved by user via your evolve system other than linking cosmetics to idiotic rarity , then you need a change of personnel who is responsible for code development!

Even AI agrees that this is complete nonsense!

    Extra

    The logic that ties

Evolution eligibility strictly to card rarity is a major technical flaw in FC 26

, especially when "Cosmetic Evolutions" are treated as distinct rarity changes rather than visual overlays.

    Extra Info:

Wait for the "Stacking" Fix: EA previously mentioned that FC 26 would allow for "stacked" cosmetics (keeping old designs while applying new ones)

Yes, this was a specific feature highlighted by EA during the

FC 26 Launch Update and subsequent developer communications in August 2025.

    The Source: "Cosmetic Stacking" Feature

The feature was officially detailed in the EA SPORTS FC 26 Pitch Notes (September 12, 2025) and discussed by EA staff (including Producer Jamie Kane) in pre-launch deep dives

Key details of this implementation include:

Layered Visuals: EA intended for "Cosmetic Upgrades" to be separate from "Rarity Changes." This means visual effects like a lightning strike or sparkle overlay are designed to stack and carry over even if you change the card's rarity later.

Preserving Design: Most incremental gameplay evolutions in FC 26 were designed not to change the card's base item design, allowing you to keep the original look (e.g., Gold or TOTY) while gaining stats.

The Overwrite Rule: Cosmetics only overwrite each other if they affect the same type of visual (e.g., two different lightning animations). Changes not tied to rarity are supposed to persist.

  • This blows, as now there's no chance any 89 rated 2 playstyle+ evo will drop anytime soon to make up for it. I've waited so long to have my Reece James World Tour card i've saved since release week to have the exact build i was looking for all because i added a bugged purple evo shell and now i'm cooked.

    amazing.

You can't complete the evolution no more unfortunately.

You can’t use an EVO on a player unless his current EVO has finished?

Join the club bro, I did the exact same thing 😭 I really hope EA give us a solution for this before I end up sticking my unfinished HM TOTY Messi into an SBC 😭
