Excessive Sliding When Passing to Unmarked Players

When I pass the ball to a player who is unmarked near the defensive line or becomes free in a crucial area of the pitch, that player frequently slips and falls.

I feel this happens far too often. It is particularly frustrating because the CPU-controlled opponents do not seem to be affected by the same pitch conditions.

Is this an intended gameplay mechanic, or could the frequency of these slipping incidents be adjusted?
