Wrongfully banned

I have received a ban on my account for a name that another person uses as their ingame name.

"Under GDPR guidelines regarding data accuracy and automated processing, I am formally disputing a penalty applied to my account. My account was banned for an 'ingame name violation,' yet the violating names belong to entirely separate, active accounts that have not been penalized. A data mismatch or automated reporting error has assigned a third party's infraction to my EA ID. I request a manual audit of my account's historical name registry to prove this content never existed on my profile."

I can respond with my case files but since the TOS team have decided that their actions of banning me for a week was correct I can’t do anything. Hence why I created this post. How is it fair that I received the punishment for something I didn’t do. I can submit pictures with the names they stated and if they check my account they will find that I have never used those names. Since the responses you receive are so lackluster you don’t know that they have done anything either.
Please respond with how I can progress with the issue. I would also appreciate some kind of reimbursement for my troubles.

  • Hey weongfulban,

When it comes to account actions that don't feel right, please follow these steps to create an appeal so our Terms of Service team can take another look. They'll have the right tools and records to review this for you, as we're unable to make any changes or discuss account details here on the forums.

If you've received an appeal-declined message, it means the team has found evidence supporting the ban. However, as long as the team doesn't respond with a message stating they consider the decision final, you should still have the opportunity to appeal, and can include the pictures you've mentioned in the next one.

Once you create the appeal, please keep an eye on your case history page, and the ToS team will reach out via email once that review is complete. Thanks!

Yes that would work if the TOS team actually read what I wrote. They denied it twice even though the names in the picture (I will add it in this post) have never been used by my account. They’re the names of my clubmates but apparently I’m responsible for their actions and not them since one of them didn’t get banned but I did. Since they wrote after two appeals without checking anything I can’t do anything else. Since it’s only a temporary ban it’s not the end of the world but I can’t play the game which I would like to do. If it was a permanent ban that’s even worse. What else can I do to get a response what I have done wrong? In the email (see the picture) it just says they saw inappropriate content and then proceeded with stating my clubmates names. One of them got the same suspension as me and the other one nothing.

If the response from the TOS team actually looked into the accounts with the names they would’ve seen that they aren’t my account. But since the response doesn’t mention that they’ve looked into that I would assume that it is a unintentional punishment rather than intentional one. If it’s actually ment for my account I would like a response what I was supposed to do. It’s like banning me for getting in the same team as a cheater and saying that I was cheating. I asked AI and here is what it responded with.

    ”

Subject: Formal Dispute: Account wrongfully banned due to teammate's Pro Clubs name (Data Mismatch) Message: Hello, My account has been wrongfully banned for "inappropriate content" regarding a character name in Pro Clubs. However, the violating name stated in the ban notification does not belong to my account. It belongs to a teammate's character. Under data accuracy and automated processing guidelines, I am formally disputing this penalty. An automated reporting error or data mismatch has assigned a third party's infraction to my EA ID. I request a manual audit of my account's historical name registry. This will immediately prove that the offensive name/content has never existed on my personal profile or my avatar. I should not be penalized for actions taken by other players in a matchmaking lobby. Please escalate this to a senior manager for a manual human review. Thank you.”

    Hey weongfulban,

I understand how this situation can be concerning, especially if the sanctioned username doesn't belong to you. Unfortunately, the best and only option in this case is to continue appealing the suspension so that our ToS team can look into it. Each appeal is reviewed by a different member of the team, so I'd encourage you to continue appealing and include any evidence you can that supports your innocence.
