Ongoing Connectivity & Packet Loss Issues for Players in Iraq

Dear Dear EA Support Team,

I am writing to raise a serious and ongoing connectivity issue affecting players in Iraq. This problem has been continuing for months, and despite repeated attempts to troubleshoot it, the situation has not improved.

Players in Iraq are experiencing severe lag, gameplay delays, and frequent packet loss when playing EA games online. What makes the issue particularly confusing is that the displayed ping can often be relatively normal, typically ranging from around 40–100 ms, while the actual gameplay experience remains extremely poor due to significant packet loss and instability.

Many players have already contacted their Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and we have been informed that there are no issues with our local Internet connections. This raises concerns that the problem could be related to EA's server infrastructure, routing, peering, or connectivity between Iraq and EA's game servers.

This is not an isolated case affecting one player or one ISP. Players across Iraq are experiencing similar problems, which strongly suggests that the issue requires investigation on EA's side as well.

The impact is becoming significant. Players are becoming frustrated and, more importantly, many are now avoiding purchasing EA games because they cannot reliably play online from Iraq. This is directly affecting the experience of existing customers and potentially EA's future sales in the Iraqi market.

We kindly ask EA to:

Investigate the connectivity and routing between Iraq and EA's servers.

Check for packet loss affecting Iraqi players.

Investigate whether there are server, routing, peering, or regional connectivity issues.

Provide an explanation of whether this is a known issue.

Escalate the issue to the appropriate network/server engineering team.

Provide players in Iraq with an update and, if possible, an estimated timeline for resolution.

We understand that Internet routing can involve multiple parties, but given that this issue has persisted for months and affects a significant number of players, we believe it deserves a proper technical investigation rather than being treated as an individual ISP issue.

We are willing to provide ping tests, traceroutes, packet-loss results, ISP information, EA connection reports, and other diagnostic data from affected players if this would help your technical team identify the problem.

We genuinely hope EA can investigate and resolve this issue, because players in Iraq want to continue playing and purchasing EA games, but the current online experience makes that extremely difficult.

Thank you, and we look forward to a meaningful response and resolution.

Kind regards, A concerned EA player from Iraq

Dear EA, please don’t ignore the players in Iraq. 🇮🇶
We have been facing serious connection and packet loss issues for months, and the problem is affecting many players across Iraq, not just one ISP or one player.

We love EA games and want to keep playing and supporting them, but the current online experience is making that extremely difficult.

Please investigate the connection between Iraq and your servers and help us find a solution. We are ready to provide any technical data you need.

All we are asking for is a fair chance to play the game we love. ❤️🎮

  • I am also playing from Erbil, Iraq, and I can confirm that I am experiencing the same issue.

In my case, the connection often appears to be routed toward European servers, and I regularly get matched with players from countries such as England, France, and Germany. There is a noticeable difference in response time and gameplay responsiveness compared with what I would expect from a closer regional route.

I believe it would be worth investigating whether Iraqi players could be routed through Turkey or another geographically closer regional network path, if technically possible. Turkey appears to be a much more suitable routing point for players in northern Iraq, and a more direct route could potentially reduce latency, instability, and packet loss.

I am happy to provide my ISP information, ping results, traceroutes, packet-loss tests, and any other network diagnostics that could help your technical team investigate the routing from Erbil, Iraq to EA's servers.

I hope EA can look into the routing specifically for Iraqi players rather than treating each case as an individual ISP issue.
