Your "fast Wi-Fi" doesn’t have much impact when playing games online, especially in modes like H2H, where you’re essentially setting up a "point-to-point" connection to your opponent through EA servers.
In the simplest terms, point-to-point connectivity works like this:
Your device > Wi-Fi and modem > Internet provider > EA servers > Opponent's internet provider > Opponent's Wi-Fi/modem > Opponent's device.
A lot can happen along the way on these networks. Even if your Wi-Fi is fast (assuming no interference at home), your connection is still dependent on the speed of your internet, the technology used, your ISP’s network limitations, their peering or upstream links, and how packets are routed to EA servers. Then, your opponent is experiencing the same process. The further away both of you are from EA servers, the higher the likelihood of lag or timeouts.
