Well, I can talk from my xp. Past format gave shards as daily rewards. So if they want it to be the same, they should give out draft tokens in daily quests.
Also, extra time did wonders. Those 5k exchanges got me 3 times 150 shards and mostly 40-60 shards for 5k tokens. So if they left that in, and just replaced shards with draft tokens, it would be easier to get players.
As for exchanges and phase 2 tokens, even if we can gather 900 EA would probably give us a choice of 3 117 we don't need.
Just an example, I had more than enough shards for R9 but didn't go for him. Decided to invest a bit more (coins and gems) and get 2 players that filled my squad where it was of better use.
Lets say I got 117 Van Basten and the draft/exchange gives me another ST. I'd be forced to drop the formation and gameplay style I'm using for 7 years, just to make use of that player.
Remember the old days when grinding more got you better things. We lost that to make newbies feel better with pack luck casino and getting competitive ovr in one month compared to someone that plays 3 years without skipping a day. Then we had the chance to choose the player we need and pay the price (shards) EA wants. Everyone had options to spend money and in-game resources, or just get what you can. Now, even money doesn't get you what you want (except these special FC Points things for VDS).
I had 150k gems coming into this. Spent tons and now I'm on 100k. If I decide to spend them to get to 100 draws and then get a player I don't want, it will definitely kill the potential and desire to play the next event.
What EA gets from that:
- loss of a player that hasn't skipped a day in years;
- loss of a forum member with thousands of replies and lot of help to other players (doing EAs job);
- termination of one of the best leagues (with EA bugs all league members would probably get stuck in that league and lose progress);
- potential investor if they bring star pass and event as they were in Fifa.
So, killing us F2Ps gets them problems they still don't see. I hope they realise the mistakes and get on the right path, because TOTY is a lost cause.
b7r4owv30dzg - it's not being fixated on the cost, it's stating a fact of the game reality that came with TOTY event. It hides behind a facelift of a simple mechanism of converting the gems into RNG-controlled Phase2Token, then to the card of choice (full with 116 and 117, or partial for the OVRs below. The cost of a guaranteed player of choice has been increased to a ridiculous level. As it stands, it's 5.4m gems with bad luck, period - unless you luck out with the 117 card, as some have, you are sent down the "buy more FP path".
The point is, whether you like it or not, the cost of getting the desirable card is the crux of the problems listed, and I am just pointing that out whilst everyone is fixated on drafts being the evil (it doesn't matter what it's called), the cost of obtaining the card of your choice is what people should be looking at.
Some others tried to point out the lack of certainty and choices. Those are still there to a certain extent, you just need to pay a lot more for them, and now it means hard cash, or you can play the slots, which goes back to the "cost or the desirable reward".
To make it fair, the game needs have much better cost-to-reward ratio and the reintroduction of grindable resources, outside of a few extra gems, if you can reach 40 stars. Shards/drafts/vouchers/tokens/thingies, it does not matter, the parameters of cost-to-reward ratio/matrix need serious overhauling. The pittance of 5 tokens (or nothing for 112 and below) is just poor form, driving outrageous costs.

IMO, EA have shown us the way the game is going. More and more stuff behind a pay wall, less and less rewards for actually playing the game. No gameplay updates that the whole community has been crying out for. More and more bugs and taking longer to fix them. Running it on an absolute shoestring to maximise the amount of capital earned from it and to hell with the end user.
I remember the whole "we're listening" propaganda for FC26, gone very quiet on that front in the past 3-4 months and that's one of EA's flagship titles, the players of that game are unsatisfied with the drop rates in packs, SBC costs and gameplay over there. So what hope is there for FC Mobile which will be much further down the list of priorities? Slim to none. And Slim just left town.
EA can't even be bothered to explain how the Champions League event is supposed to work. And that's been out for ages!
