I agree that there are not enough tokens to get, compared to getting Mascheranos left, right, and center in the past. Keep in mind that a lot of Hero and Icon events that regularly dished these out have disappeared too. I definitely don't want to see URP cards back, as these just clog up your inventory.
Playing PVP at this point in time is also pointless, as H2H is in an unplayable state, and even extending it to VSA will come with similar issues.
A hybrid where you can use one or the other (same card and/or rank points) would be nice, but it does add complexity, given the current issues with gameplay. Probably, we don't even want them to start messing about and getting distracted from fixing the two elephants in the room — latency and gameplay.
The positives with the new ranking are that some older but still great cards for themed squads are slightly cheaper to gold rank, and your inventory doesn't get clogged.
Negatives are the inability to use the same card to rank up (for example, you can’t train up 70s to green for higher XP), more expensive 110+ rank-ups (equivalent of two URPs, so 200 ranks), and overall harder to get.

I actually see no point now as i have spent a little to catch up/compete with my squad as a newbie over past couple months but I have top players in most positions all on blue rank which was hell to achieve and costly as shouldn't have to pay but my point is just to rank one player to orange will cost 420 + 560 + 700 = 1780 rank points just to rank up one player. So 1800 points × (11 just for starting XI) = 19800 rank up points. Nooo way am playing these games or wasting anymore time unless they drastically improve rank up points

Yep, this just makes no sense at all.
Imagine grinding hard to get those players, then having to grind even harder, almost impossible just to get rank-up points for them.
And when you finally manage to rank up two players, a new event comes out with higher OVR cards. At the end of the day, we’re still stuck with low-OVR players in the squad, trying to play competitively in Division Rivals. We can never catch up. - dzrtr7 days agoSeasoned Ace
I'd be stopping at rank 4/red then, especially since you don't need to have a gold rank to train the players to 30 now. Until there are more ranks in the events, just save them and be more selective with what you grind for. Not like we have any alternatives until more ranks are obtainable. Still better to have 11 reds than 4 golds and lots of greens/purples or even no ranks.

Look at the rank up points table.. I received like 1000 rank points for full season overall rewards.. great.. no! Rank up one player from green to purple.. all them 1000 gone! Literally need 10s of thousands of rank points to get near all red

Yeah, I know it changed and it's more expensive up front, but going beyond red, unless you really need to, is kind of pointless. That's keeping in mind that the Anniversary 2 cards do not get the OOP penalty when gold. Not going gold (or even red) might actually help you spread the scarce resources around. Either way, it unclogged my inventory, so now I can make more coins to waste on players like BdOr Cannavaro \e/
I still prefer the new ranks system over the URP. What EA needs to do is revisit the cost and/or limits or ranks availability they enforced. That doesn’t mean the system is bad for high-end cards. It’s frustrating in terms of training costs, but those are easy enough to recover with more room for the market investments.
