I couldn’t agree more. I’m F2P and have found the game less and less rewarding over the last 4-5 months. I’ve logged on everyday for nearly 16 months straight and I’ve maximized nearly every available reward during that time. I used to reach FC Champions +30 or higher in both VSA and H2H, but I see a chasm opening between F2P and P2P in recent months. I now struggle to reach +10 in VSA and H2H and the only reason is that EA created a paywall between F2Pers and the meta cards we used to be able to claim by “grinding.”Now, people with deep pockets and big $$$ get VIP access to special cards while the rest of us inhabit a different, poorer FCM world. This feels both demeaning and demotivating.
I get that EA is a for-profit corporation, but in the past there was a tacit agreement with F2Pers (which is to say most of the FCM community) that, if you didn’t have the $$$, you could exchange your time for quality rewards. In this fashion, if you were really dedicated you could remain at least relatively competitive with your P2P peers. This helped create an FCM community that was both broad and diverse. Alas, this has all begun to change. And with EA in the process of being acquired by “private equity” (meaning bankers who care about nothing except “return on investment”) there is every reason to expect profits will be increasingly prioritized over community. This does not bode well for F2Pers.
11DeadlyKnights’ proposal is modest and reasonable. Throw the F2P community a bone and, in the process, do something to nurture the heart and soul of the game.
