I really want to amplify the last thing you said. EA’s tactics over the past year — namely the introduction of drafts with incredibly poor odds and terrible exchange rates — have been so transparently cynical/greedy as to be offensive. Most of us don’t have hundreds of dollars to throw at this game and EA has systematically put the best players out of our reach. This is not only frustrating from the standpoint that we can’t actually build the squad we want, but, with the introduction of playstyles, it means we’re increasingly faced with inferior gameplay. There is a huge performance gap between the meta players with two playstyles (one gold, one silver) and the second- and third-tier. It’s obviously deliberate on EA’s part (because they want to leverage more user spending), but the end result is that most of us (who aren’t “whales”) feel like we are members of a separate (lower) “caste.” Not only can we not compete with the top players (which has pretty much always been a division between P2P and F2P), but we can’t even enjoy gameplay with our piers — because the game is now optimized around playstyles and you really feel the difference (in all the worst ways) when you’re using players who lack those meta playstyles.
