I’m at +9 FC Champions in H2H mode. I’ve got a chance to promote and win a bonus and I get matched against an opponent +20 ranks above me (and, predictably, I lose). This isn’t fun and it isn’t fair. (And I’m left to wonder if it’s not even a coincidence!).
Why must the algorithm give us matchups like this? It happens a lot more often than I post about it, but it’s the persistence that drives me to post about it…again. I’m totally fine waiting longer for a fair matchup. PLEASE keep the game fair and fun and eliminate these lopsided matches!
And this was yesterday and the day before that. So unfair and so unnecessary.
No way to beat the script. They do it to everyone. If they don't match you with stronger players in vsa, they make it laggy so your finesse shot becomes power shot, players forget the ball and passes go everywhere except where you point them.
In h2h the lag and frame by frame gameplay is so annoying. I lost vs 118 untrained team with my fully ranked and trained 123 team just because of the gameplay that comes out of nowhere as soon as I put pressure and try to score.
I lost a game in the 120th minute in Scouting Camp one time because of the lag. The other player had a free kick and the game just frozed. I couldn't do anything and once it started back again, the player was right in front of the goal and he scored. So frustrating!
That's a harsh loss, ugh.
Since I'm in Championship, I just autoplay H2H to get the OVR tags (i mean Serie A tags, haha), otherwise I wouldn't even bother as playing vs people on the other side of the globe with 300ms is just pointless. I guess it's an easy win for them.Last night in VSA: I played 3 games. One was against a 127 with 64 stars. Looking at that guy's history, he has been playing vs even 118 and smashing them 14-6. Another opponent was also 127 with only 30 stars. I kinda get star level matching to a certain extent (I was on 22), but the OVR difference is still 4 (I'm on 123). I did have an easier opponent at 121, but that one looked shady. Barely any games played (30+ in Championship) and was nearly hitting the 20* bracket.
Now, the good news: this is being actively looked at with priority, based on what I have seen in the mods channel. Pulsar should be able to share more details as they become available.
Man just cut it coz even in real life situation Burnley fc can be given real Madrid as an opponent so just stand bold and face the challenge and that will help u know and get used to and how legends play so that u can also become one
With all due respect, that’s just not how the ranking system is supposed to work. If this was an open cup or a true league scenario with 20 clubs of widely varying composition then I’d be much more understanding of there being a wide gap between opponents, but we’re talking about a tiered system (containing many thousands of users) in which everyone has a specific ranking based on the difference in accumulated wins and losses. The whole design is one that enables all users to be matched against similar quality opponents (especially after the first week or so following the monthly reset, once the best of the best have climbed back up to the top tiers of FC Champions). This tiered system is explicitly designed to keep the matches competitive and, therefore, fun. I’m simply reporting that it’s not functioning according to its design. Telling me to “stand bold” is missing the point.

There have to be tens of thousands of players with a similar ranking to me. Why can’t I be matched with one of them? If this is a case where there are so few users in the +30 tier that EA has to give this opponent a match with folks like me, then why don’t I get matches with opponents 20-30 ranks below me??? Seems nonsensical as well as totally unfair.

But on a serious note, the matchmaking has been odd in the past few days, and yes, it was raised already. Also, re stuttering/latency. I used both of your examples with the weird lobby 20ms latency turning into VSA's 100ms+. I will ping both of you on Discord when more dets are needed, just remember to record the timestamps of the lagged games.The hits just keep coming. This was my latest H2H matchup (see below). Although our squads were somewhat even, it was obvious my opponent had a way faster connection. My players were laggy throughout and it ended in a quite predictable loss. This was a match that never should have been made — not fair and not fun.

Twice in one day. Total horse crap. Tweaking the matchmaking algorithm simply can’t be rocket science and should have been corrected by now. Either EA are intentionally using us small fry as “cannon fodder” for the whales who inhabit the higher ranks, or they are carelessly neglecting to address an issue of fundamental fairness. Either way, it’s inexcusable to let this continue to ride.
No sooner had I cracked the +10 FC Champions in VSA than I’m getting matched with opponents +30 ranks higher in 2 out of my 5 matches. NO CHANCE to win these matches. Total waste of my time and super demotivating, especially when I NEVER receive the benefit of getting matched with someone 30 ranks below me! Honestly, there are some major problems with this app that are legitimate heavy lifts (like upgrading/updating the game engine), but tweaking the matchmaking algorithm to produce fun and FAIR gameplay is not one of them! Get off the dime, EA, and set this right.
There was a tweak to help with matchmaking in H2H, which was supposed to help with mostly latency.
VSA was not done yet.
Basically, devs, when I spoke to one of them, were keen to see if people are still matched with much higher ping players in h2h, or if you play vs people mostly from your region. The other is the difficulty (so many stars vs little amount of stars)
So the question is. Has the matchmaking overall improved? If it has not, then list examples why it hasn't (as I said initially, it's mostly to do with latency, but if there are skill level/stars discrepancies, list them too)
EA hires behavioral phycologist to make the game addicting, keeping players hooked and spending money. They force losses to make you angry, then give you a win so you get a dopamine hit. Manipulating match outcomes makes them more money so they're not going to listen to negative feedback.
Try this - don't open the game for a day. Then when you open the game, you're guaranteed easy wins against easy opponents. You will get all the matchups you want.
This won’t change until EA makes it change. When will they? In the meantime, could we at least see some balance? When do I get matches against players 40 ranks below me???
So if you reach a number of stars, they just match you up with players from higher divisions
I’m totally fine with matchups that are +/- 10 ranks above or below my rank, but the problem is that if you’re in the lower tiers of FC Champions EA will match you with someone 20, 30, or even 40 ranks above, but never below. This just isn’t fair or fun!
I recognize that EA has a problem — there are just fewer users available to match with as you move up the ranks (i.e., it’s a pyramid). So, EA appears to be solving this by giving a +40 FC Champion-ranked player a match with me (at +10). My argument is that they should either (a) make the +40 player wait for a match with someone at their level; or (b) at least even things out by allowing me to occasionally play someone 30 ranks below me! As it stands, the first two tiers of FC Champions (ranks 0-9 and 10-19) just get abused. We are consistently matched with opponents that we have no realistic chance of beating and it’s just not fun or fair. This situation is totally fixable if EA will only show us some respect and stop favoring speedy matchmaking for the “whales” who occupy the highest ranks over fairness for the rest of us.

As I’ve said, I’m not complaining about a +10 rank difference (that would be reasonable). It’s when it’s +20, +30, or, in this case, +40(!) that it becomes ridiculous. This is fundamental issue of fair competition and respect for users who invest their time and money in the game. We just want a fair shake and to have fun. It’s not too much to ask.

I would like to report an issue with the matchmaking in VS Attack.
I am currently in the Legendary division and I'm trying to reach 10 Stars. However, I am consistently matched against players who already have around 50 Stars and teams with significantly higher OVR than mine.
These matches feel unfair from the very beginning because the higher OVR gives my opponents far better chances. It feels like the outcome is decided before the match even starts, which makes it impossible to enjoy the game or progress through skill alone.
This isn't something that happens occasionally—it's happening in virtually every VS Attack match I play. I don't mind losing to players who are more skilled, but I do mind being matched against opponents with a much stronger team and far more progression.
Please consider improving the matchmaking so that players are matched against others with similar OVR and a similar number of Stars within the division. That would make VS Attack much more competitive and enjoyable.

6rq033kg3hgh You mean you are in the FC Championship? Legendary does not have more than 3 stars.
Anyway, the matchmaking is being looked at as the issue has been reported quite some time ago, there is no ETA on the fix. I'll move your post to a master thread.
