Playstyle Balance Disparity Between Upcoming Draft and Box Players (F2P vs. P2W)

Hi EA Team and Community,

I’m writing to address a significant balance issue introduced with the recent player releases that risks severely widening the gap between Free-to-Play (F2P) and Pay-to-Win (P2W) players.

Currently, the top OVR P2W Box Players are receiving a total Playstyle allotment of 4:
  • Level 3 Playstyle + Level 1 Playstyle = 4
  • 2x Level 2 Playstyles = 4
In contrast, the top OVR Draft Players are capped at a total Playstyle allotment of 3:
  • Level 2 Playstyle + Level 1 Playstyle = 3
  • 1x Level 3 Playstyle = 3
Why This Unbalances the Game

Playstyles heavily dictate on-pitch performance, AI behavior, and player fluidity. Granting paid box players an extra level of Playstyle stats creates an artificial performance ceiling that cannot be bridged through gameplay skill or strategy alone.

While monetization is an expected part of FC Mobile, direct performance disparities like this erode competitive integrity. F2P and grindable players through modes like Draft should remain competitively viable against paid box releases at equivalent OVRs.

Proposed Solutions

Equalize Playstyle Totals: Adjust high OVR Draft players to also have access to 4 total Playstyle levels (e.g., Level 3 + Level 1, or 2x Level 2) so on-pitch capability is determined by player skill rather than paywall tier.

Standardize Playstyle Caps by OVR: Tie the maximum Playstyle allotment strictly to player OVR tiers rather than the acquisition method (Box vs. Draft).

We hope the dev team considers this adjustment to keep gameplay fair and enjoyable for the entire community.

  • 100% agree. We’ve been heading down this road for a while where there is a widening gap between P2P and F2P, and giving P2P access to players with additional playstyles threatens to turn this gap into a chasm. Box players are already priced at such a premium that users of ordinary means cannot possibly afford them, and playstyles grant a HUGE player performance advantage that cannot be overcome merely through user skill.

Unfortunately, there are few signs that EA cares about the growing disparity between P2P and F2P. Most F2Pers feel we’ve been relegated to second-class citizen status ever since the drafts were introduced and meta players became more difficult to claim than ever before. We spend a lot of time grinding unrewarding events and matched against “whales” in Division Rivals where we seem to serve mainly as cannon fodder for “paying” customers. If left unaddressed, this playstyles issue will only make this situation worse and trigger more F2Pers to leave the game in frustration and disgust. Maybe EA feels this is acceptable since we only contribute a small fraction of direct revenue to FCM, but I would argue that that’s an exceedingly shortsighted viewpoint. After all, the “whales” have no pyramid to sit atop without hundreds of thousands of F2Pers forming the “base.” Make the F2Pers miserable enough that we leave en masse and all you’ve got left is a few thousand whales waiting around longer and longer to get a match.
