PvP games are absolutely flooded with cheaters

Just played a match and it was clearly an AFK bot. Zero fun. PvP is dead.

This feeling is so frustrating—the whole point of PvP is the mind games, tactical reads, and split-second reactions between real people. When you realize your opponent is just a script running on a loop, all the immersion and sense of achievement just vanish instantly.

  • Gonna play devil's advocate here and point out why it happens a lot, which is partially also a part of feedback passed onto devs in the past months.

    • Serious, inconsistent gameplay issues post-playstyles addition and gameplay overhaul. It's a positive move imo, but a lot of gremlins are at work making it look bad, so overall it will be bad until the fine-tuning fixes the problems.

    • Matchmaking has two major problems. The first is that you often get matched outside of your skill level, seen plenty of a few stars vs 40 or 50 stars matchups.  The 2nd matchmaking issue, you end up playing vs players across the globe, rather than people hosted closer to your server, which drives latency through the roof, making it unplayable.  If you are the away player or matched vs a hardcore. Quit, play, or put the phone down. You still will lose.

    • The current event does force you to play DR to get points, and you get the same amount whether you win/draw/lose. If you are short on time to play all 15 games and you have already made it to the Championship, autoplay is convenient. Even in the lower tiers,  bouncing up and down is easy, but your league gets fewer points, so autoplaying in the Championship is better. Grind with no effort, you get the points, others get a win, so thats technically a win-win, given the circumstances.

    • People do get dropped out of the games for various reasons (typically network problems). It takes a bit of time before your session gets disconnected, but with a lack of input from a player, the game is already autoplaying.

    • Little incentive to actually play DR seriously, once you make 20 stars, you get nothing really useful resource-wise except for the 40 stars mark and 10k gems, but the grind required to go from 20 stars to 40 stars for another 10k gems is just not worth the time investment, especially in H2H.

    • Cheaters, skill move spammers, exploit goal scorers, emoji spammers. All will be chucked into the same bucket of toxic players that ruin the game for others. To be fair, in most cases, it's not worth playing vs these people, especially cheaters and exploiters.

So yeah, there are many reasons behind it, a lot of that has been fed back to the devs, but until significant improvements are made, it will be status quo.

2 lengthy cents to open a discussion on the problem statement you made.

Honestly, you guys are making a pretty compelling argument for quitting, lol!

All of these issues are real and I experience all of them weekly (some daily). The game mode I would be most enthusiastic to see improve is H2H (cuz playing a real match against another human ought to be the bread and butter of any good video sports franchise), but it’s so far off from being consistent and fun right now it’s ridiculous. I mean, since the update I can’t even tell whether it’s my opponent cheating or just the gameplay sucking (or both!!!). Matches are now routinely “sludgy” and player performance is super inconsistent (with poor passes, bad touches, and bizarre tackles that go right back to the attacker abounding).

While I get that there is sometimes a need for patience while bugs get worked out, I find this argument hard to swallow in the current moment for two reasons. (1) EA has chronically under-invested in gameplay improvements for ages, while simultaneously (2) hyper-monetizing the game. The fact of the matter is that whether you’re P2P or F2P, you get less for your $$$ and/or time than you did a year ago. Hands down. And it’s not even close. If you ask me, it takes a special kind of nerve for EA to offer users less while charging us more AND all the while expecting us to remain patient while they fumble around on issues we’ve been raising for months and months and months. Call me old-fashioned, but the game ought to at least be fun to play before you try and gouge me for owning a squad of meta cards!

But EA has put the cart before the horse now for quite a long time — prioritizing the “casino-fication” of player cards over improvements to actual gameplay. And now those chickens have come home to roost. Folks are waking up to the fact that it makes no sense to spend $100s on players if you can’t have fun actually USING them! Put another way:  FCM customer value (and, therefore, player card value!) arises from consistently fun/compelling gameplay — not merely playing the “slots” and collecting cards. EA clearly thinks they are running a casino (just look at how creative they get with each shiny new game of chance), but it’s as if they think we want to win poker chips just for the sake of owning poker chips and that it doesn’t really matter whether those chips can be exchanged for something of value like actual money! Cuz that’s all player cards are (worthless poker chips), if we can’t have fun actually playing football with them!

If they want us to be patient while they work out the kinks, then they need to stop charging us extortionate “rent” on lousy draft odds and rotten exchanges. But they can’t have it both ways — they can’t expect to gouge us while serving up a second-rate product.

The biggest issue with the cheating is the one that immediately activate connection lags everytime I am attacking in the opponent final third... EA is doing nothing as they are doing nothing to lags and even broken stadiums and balls... pretty much, the game is now broken and unplayable at its best!!!
