Rank up changes - can't use same player type to rank up - new system is poor

I was really excited with all the hype about rank up points as it seemed more generic but on first check really dislike the idea now.

Why can't I use players of same type to rank up a player.  Atleast there should be an exchange where we can collect same amount of rank up points as a single card requires based on ovr.

Also I don't see any 81-90 cards shown up on the rank up point exchange, not sure why this is even listed. (Screenshot attached)
