I share your experience and your concerns. I’ve logged in every day for more than 14 months and had built a reasonably competitive squad — until the draft system came along. After more than 270 drafts I’ve claimed only two 116s — which I won on my 100th and 200th drafts, respectively (i.e., only after they were guaranteed). And to make matters worse, neither of the 116s are at a position of greatest need in my squad. They help increase my OVR for the purposes of VSA and that’s it. Full stop.
So, like you (and many, many others), I’m asking myself: “Why bother?”
In the last two months the community has given EA loads and loads of feedback and all we hear or see in return is the same tired platitude: “We’re listening.” No action to fix the draft odds and improve the exchanges (as so many have called for); indeed, we can’t even get a response acknowledging our points of pain and committing to addressing them. Instead, we seem to be stuck in what amounts to an abusive relationship where EA ruthlessly exploits our love of the sport by erecting an ever-higher paywall around top cards and we suffer through their BS in the vain hope that they will “change.”
So, as with any abusive relationship, the ultimate question is “what will it take for us to leave them?” For me, it comes down to the next event. If I don’t see major improvements to draft system then I will leave and go play eFootball instead. And I won’t be back. Because the way EA has behaved towards the user community over the last few months has been nothing short of contemptuous. They have the gall to coerce us into spending more for players whose shelf life is about 60 days, and they’ve done NOTHING to improve gameplay. They obviously don’t respect our intelligence (because we can ALL see what they are doing with their casino-fication of this game), nor do they respect our time. The majority of users are F2Pers and we’ve labored hour after hour, month after month, to build competitive squads and now EA has seen fit to set fire to our hard work by implementing a draft system that turned every F2Per into a second-class citizen overnight.
So, the choice seems clear as of today: Stay and suffer life as a permanent member of an FCM lower caste, or quit and salvage my dignity. Barring major changes, I know which one I will be choosing!
