The Fc game is lost.

Sorry EA. But this update and events os completely lost , i dont know if will change or not, but let us know if this is the new way of the game, cos 1. There is no real chance of wining like the last season where its was essy enough to win and exchange for coins and gems and sell, now most of my player became untradeable and or lost value, and the store has lost the buying packs with gems.  So what the point of playing against p2w grinders when F2p cant keep up?

Good question, I would also be interested in whether this is the final concept because if so, I will no longer play this game, please be so kind and answer his question.

  • Amen. 100% my sentiment. No future in this game for F2P. It seems clear from EA’s actions that they are seeking to convert F2Pers to P2Pers or else run the F2Pers out of the game by giving us no chance of competing. If that’s not the developers intent then they need to say so AND they need to take immediate action to either (a) bring back the shard system, or (b) completely overhaul the draft system to provide better odds and some element of certainty (of obtaining one or two meta cards per event) for the grinders. Otherwise there is no point to continuing to play this game. Any of us who were able to build competitive teams are now falling well behind P2Pers thanks to the awful odds/exchange rates of TOTY. And this gap will only widen as our squads become incapable of competing for earned prizes (like 10k gems at the FC Champions levels of Division Rivals).

Considering how much time we’ve invested in this game this last four weeks has felt like EA spitting in our faces and I’m a hair’s breadth away from never playing this game (or any other EA title) ever again. I refuse to patronize a company that clearly holds me in such clear contempt.

I'd prefer option b, given that the cost of the voucher is lower (or more vouchers are grindable), also with drafts i should move towards what we had with the kick off one. Where the ability to choose your players if you draft a pool player with the current max OVRs.
    - 117 card as a pool A player (say 50 drafts to guarantee one),
    - 116 card as a pool B player (say 30 drafts to guarantee one)
    - 113-115 card as a pool C player (say 10 drafts to guarantee one)
    - anything below, just ET/Exchange fodder, so it doesn't matter much.
Also Phase 2 Token conversion rate from the cards needs changing from 5 P2T to match what we had in the shards era.
This would bring back the choice to a certain extent and allow F2P to be able to compete a bit more.
Also, a higher percentage of the cards (say 10%) should be tradeable to keep the market healthy.

DragonRogue01 How long have you been playing for? 116 seems low to be fair unless you just started playing, as F2P, I am 2OVR (need either 117 or 2x116 for my 115s) off 122, and that's a themed squad (icons/heroes) without badges.

Are you suggesting the draft system can be overhauled such that it does not  function like a glorified slot machine? Because that’s what it is now — and it’s the high cost, low odds, and no certainty of obtaining a player of your choice that would have to be addressed. I mean, if the whole premise of the game is to build a fantasy squad then we have to have some element of control (regardless of whether we are P2P or F2P). There’s a reason the majority of FCM players are F2P (or, like me, ultra-low spending “F2Pers”) and it’s because (a) we love football and (b) we don’t like wasting our money in casinos. So, we’re here for love of the game and will stay just so long as EA provides some certainty of a payoff for the “grind” and doesn’t try and have us “over a barrel” by sticking a high-priced/low-odds slot machine between us and a decently competitive team. [And, as I’ve said before, if you want me to spend real $$$ then improve gameplay and offer me a subscription service or something that isn’t a slot machine with poor payouts.]

I still say there was nothing wrong with the shard system and that the draft system was a “solution” in search of a “problem.” Literally NO ONE asked for it, and I haven’t heard anyone offer a compelling argument for why we should believe it can be made to work better than the shard system. And make no mistake, that should be the threshold we apply, because merely making things less awful than they are now is not going to cut it. The draft system landed like a sucker punch to the F2P community not just because it tried to coerce us into gambling in a crappy new casino, but it also disrespected (indeed, sought to render nearly worthless) the TIME we’ve invested grinding to get to where we are.

I honestly think the problem here is bigger than EA imagines because it’s not just that people are peeved about the draft system. It’s that they (accurately) perceive that EA doesn’t really respect their time or their intelligence. Let’s face it, no company that did either (let alone both!) of these things would have sprung the draft system on its users as part of one of the most highly anticipated events of the year, tried to “sell” it like it was some sort of exciting improvement(!) and then sat virtually silent for six weeks while the community protested and pleaded EVERY DAY for them to bring back shards. Only a company that is supremely out of touch (and/or holds its customers in a special kind of contempt) behaves that way. And so, if it’s merely the former (and not the latter) of these then EA needs to launch a serious fence-mending campaign. My advice would be (a) bring back the shard system for the next event; and (b) if EA wants/needs to explore a different model going forward for business reasons, then have a dialogue with the community and try to reach a mutually acceptable third option (e.g., a heavily modified draft system with reasonable reward guarantees and exchanges — i.e., certainty). But let’s be real — the “draft system” is tainted at this point because of how totally ham-handed these last 6-8 weeks have been handled. If they merely tweak it with some minor changes around the edges users will perceive that as slapping “lipstick on a pig” and you’re still going to see an awful lot of previously-loyal users (like this one) walk away in disgust.

There is a massive misconception about shards vs. draft. Strip it down to two key items:

    - The draft Voucher for 3k gems gives you an untradeable card just like the 3K gem daily pack did. So technically, it is much of a muchness. Not great, not terrible. In fact, you can get more than one per day, which you couldn't in the shard era, unless you went for other packs. It also gives you a guaranteed Pool A or B card, hardly any gem daily packs in the store did that. In fact, I do not recall getting a top OVR card from gem packs, only by exchanges.

    - The shard currency was replaced with the "Phase 2 Token", period. P2T has a ridiculous conversion rate of 5 P2T tokens for 113-115 cards, 50 for 116 and 150 for 117. Compare that to how many shards you used to get for the equivalent OVR cards in past events (e.g. max 115OVR in Glorious Era). Furthermore, add to the equation that Phase 2 Tokens were removed from dailies, arcade, and obtainable grind.

So this is where the exchange process of gems into the player card via intermediary currency, whether you call it shards or phase 2 tokens or "insert name here", fails. The conversion rate + cost of the guaranteed card of choice via exchanges, where 116 card with bad luck require 1.8m gems, 117 card needs 5.4m gems.

If people are going to moan about the current system, so be it, but let it be a moan based on facts where P2T and its conversion rate messed it up for all. It's not great with the current setup/parameters, but it has potential if configured fairly.
You can also save P2T tokens for future events, while the shards had to be used, or the resource would be wasted.

None of us are blind to the fact that the exchange rate is at least half of the problem, but I think you’re underselling the way in which the draft probabilities operate against F2P users. When you have no realistic hope of obtaining a Pool A player until/unless you have played 100(!) vouchers then the game is placing a premium on those who can play at “volume” (i.e., spend FC Points and amass a lot of vouchers). I scrounged earned vouchers and spent a boatload of earned gems to manage just a little over 200 drafts in TOTY and I didn’t win a Pool A player (a 116 in BOTH cases) until my 100th and 200th draft, respectively. Had I not been able to reach the hundred draft threshold I would have come up completely empty! And if, for example, I had only been able to play 199 drafts, it would have taken a MASSIVE rebalancing of the exchanges to compensate for me missing the Pool A player I pulled on the last draft.

So, yes, the exchanges DEFINITELY need to be made more fair, but I don’t think it’s as simple as saying that’s all that’s wrong with the draft system. It’s quite clear that the draft system as currently constructed hurts anyone who can’t play at high volume and the end result (which appears intentional on EA’s part) is to coerce users, who don’t otherwise have the ability to reach the 100-draft guaranteed pay out, into spending money. The tactics EA is employing could not be more transparent, and I just don’t happen to be as willing as some to look past them and give them a pass when virtually everyone was happy with the shard system. I mean, for all of this talk about how the draft system might be made somehow better I STILL haven’t heard anyone deliver a devastating critique of the shard system. And absent that argument, all of this talk about tweaking the draft system seems to be missing the point — that the previous system wasn’t broken.
