VSA ping is suddenly through the roof

I show a ping of 22-24ms when I’m in the DR page, then I launch a VSA match and get saddled with 80-120ms. My guys are sluggish, knocking passes out of bounds, taking horrendous touches — totally out of sync. It’s not fun and it’s not even remotely competitive. What the heck is going on? I’m playing in the middle of the evening on a weekend in a region of California with a population of nearly 10 million within 100 miles. Yet all evidence suggests I’m being matched with someone halfway around the world and playing off a server on a different continent.  Can anyone explain to me why EA cant provide decent gameplay in a mode as stripped down and as basic as VSA???

  • Have you paid some money to feed them? It may happen to you all days lol.
But at least,  your ping is still acceptable, mind is alway 140-200 ms :) I feed ea many times but this **** still happens to me everyday.

Why would I pay for such a crappy experience? What’s the point of me investing in players when (a) the gameplay is so inconsistent and the mechanics haven’t been seriously upgraded in years; (b) the game is rife with cheaters using mods; and (c) any player who’s meta this month will be passé in 4-6 weeks anyway. All of these factors degrade the value of a commodity (player cards) that seem to get more expensive with every passing month.

Honestly, the whole model is busted. EA isn’t even trying to make this a top-quality football simulation anymore. I ask for something as simple as 5 substitutions (which has been the world standard now for YEARS!) and they just ignore it. They’re too busy looking for new ways to monetize anything they used to give us for free. Next thing you know we’ll actually have to pay for faster ping!

  • I have seen some similar comments (where general latency when you are just in the lobby is low, but in-game it shoots up), so this has been fed back. Latency should only impact H2H (and somewhat MM), the LVL/VSA shouldn't be really impacted, as it's kinda a representation of the opponents' line up that you are versing, not them directly, as it takes place in H2H/MM. Do you see the issues after hours? Or just peak time?

I want to separate this from the general complaints about lag in H2H, which is largely due to the complexity of playing that DR type. VSA should be almost lagless, as you were playing vs PVE.

You're commenting like you never play this game :) I've just finished my 2 VSA game with ping 18x - 200ms, my chances were allocated: 4 great + 9 good chance, meanwhile my opp's chance were: 2+9+2. And of course with that **bleep** ping, i lost both the games. 1 noticeable thing: my LW was facing GK, chased by 2 CB behind, and he suddenly fell down without any touch from CB, and of course the chance is wasted.
Sending my love to ea for making this happen again and again to the ones who feed them <3

Do not assume if you do not know the details of one's gametime/connection/setup (I got high-end hardware/connection and still play quite a bit, and the only time I lag is when I play H2H vs people outside of the Oceania region). Furthermore, my experience will be different to other people, as they have completely different connections to the internet, different wireless networks (mostly running vanilla ISP configs over heavily congested bands sharing the same channels), different lineups/resources, and a significant number of FCM players are budget or low/mid-tier phones across different regions, countries, and continents, all affected differently.

I have also already spoken to 1440666fd7e443ec about his DOCSIS and Wifi setup in the past, giving him hints about fine-tuning his connection. which is why I was asking specific questions about times instead of guessing, because what he has described indicates he's affected by the same issues that have been discussed via the moderator channel to devs.
