What’s the deal with so-called “good chances” in VSA?

Over the last couple of days I’ve experienced repeated instances of VSA matches where so-called “good chances” felt nothing but. Passes inexplicably missing their target, pass recipients running right past the ball, and shots that normally result in goals repeatedly hitting crossbars. And I’m not talking about these events happening sporadically across dozens of matches. I’m talking about them all happening in clusters in the same few matches across just two days. I’m including screenshots below illustrating how these matches resulted in remarkably low conversion rates (barely 50%) for “good chances.” And to put it all in context, I play with a 126 OVR squad and am currently at +14 in VSA. Recent matchmaking has been pretty reliable in pairing me with opponents of comparable strength (so that doesn’t seem like the issue here) and, except for the 5 matches documented below, I typically score at least 12 goals, with a +90% conversion rate for “good chances.”

But the results below are real anomalies. These matches felt “off” during gameplay (with certain possessions just seeming totally beyond my control), and the data really bears this out (with barely 50% of “good chances” converted). And the fact that these five matches all occurred in the space of 48 hours (where nothing like this occurred in the days and weeks prior) makes me wonder what’s up. Did I just happen to play five opponents in quick succession using a not-so-subtle  exploit, or did EA tweak the code to introduce a not-so-subtle difficulty enhancement? Whatever it is, it doesn’t feel fair or fun and I sure wish EA would fix it. Has anyone else encountered anything like this recently?

I’ve polled my league and folks are reporting the same issue I’ve raised above — some VSA possessions suddenly feel totally unfair. I won’t use the “r” word because I don’t think that’s what the code is doing, but the way difficulty is being simulated on certain possessions (mainly “good chances”) is jarringly inconsistent with other possessions and, as a result, don’t feel fair. Within my league folks are pretty pissed off about it because (a) VSA was working fine just days ago; and (b) this feels like just another in a long line of entirely avoidable quality control issues with the game.

Can someone from EA please acknowledge this and see if something can’t be done to fix it? There are a lot of us who are pissed off enough that we’re ready to walk away from this game and it’d be pretty stupid for EA to let VSA become the “straw that broke the camel’s back.” This should be easy to fix (just revert back to how it was before), we just need someone to pay it some mind. Thanks.

  • More of the same. I managed to win this (barely), but the “good chances” were once again anything but “good” — players responding sluggishly, making uncharacteristically poor passes and shots that are normally sure goals hitting the crossbar or being miraculously saved.

C’mon EA, you’ve broken the one game mode that ought to be easy to get right. There’s no good reason for players to behave sluggishly in VSA, or for player performance (or so-called “good chances”) to be so wildly inconsistent. This is completely unacceptable and needs to be addressed immediately.

  • Same here bro, i dont even want to play these DR matches anymore when i reach to Champion.
    Yesterday i played3-4 VSA game, 2 losses, 1 draw, 1 win...well not fun anymore
All of those matches, i have same issue: my attackers run inactively, passed the ball incorrectly, received the ball terribly, shot the ball like a pass to the GK :) For the last chance, my 127 Mbappe face the GK, ready for a shoot as I pressed the button, and ridiculously he started to make a dribble and lost the ball hahahahahaha
Everything is just so **bleep** bad.  Chances are meaningless here:)
