What’s the deal with so-called “good chances” in VSA?
Over the last couple of days I’ve experienced repeated instances of VSA matches where so-called “good chances” felt nothing but. Passes inexplicably missing their target, pass recipients running right past the ball, and shots that normally result in goals repeatedly hitting crossbars. And I’m not talking about these events happening sporadically across dozens of matches. I’m talking about them all happening in clusters in the same few matches across just two days. I’m including screenshots below illustrating how these matches resulted in remarkably low conversion rates (barely 50%) for “good chances.” And to put it all in context, I play with a 126 OVR squad and am currently at +14 in VSA. Recent matchmaking has been pretty reliable in pairing me with opponents of comparable strength (so that doesn’t seem like the issue here) and, except for the 5 matches documented below, I typically score at least 12 goals, with a +90% conversion rate for “good chances.”
But the results below are real anomalies. These matches felt “off” during gameplay (with certain possessions just seeming totally beyond my control), and the data really bears this out (with barely 50% of “good chances” converted). And the fact that these five matches all occurred in the space of 48 hours (where nothing like this occurred in the days and weeks prior) makes me wonder what’s up. Did I just happen to play five opponents in quick succession using a not-so-subtle exploit, or did EA tweak the code to introduce a not-so-subtle difficulty enhancement? Whatever it is, it doesn’t feel fair or fun and I sure wish EA would fix it. Has anyone else encountered anything like this recently?
