You'd be surprised what type of internet connection EA needs to have in conjunction with their cloud provider(s) to be able to host thousands of servers for multiple games for millions of players across the world from various Data Centres, and no, we are not talking about xDSL or GPON or LEOsat or some other mobile tech for the average household.
Anyway, there are current latency issues in FC and FCM that still seem to linger since the anniversary launch. It has improved somewhat, but it's far from a desirable state. It has been fed back and is still being worked on, AFAIK.
