Position Terminology Update
Positions groupings we need to enhance the gameplay experience in all modes
I will try to be as brief as possible.
*Edge
would be all 3-4 olb and 4-3 de
Cpu cant differentiate between 3-4 olb and 4-3 de from 4-3 olb and 3-4 de, cpu doesn't change player positions to fit where those players in different schemes would play different positions, 4-3 olb with no pash rushing skills wants edge rusher money in fa despite being average if they were a mlb
*Off-ball Linebacker or Inside Linebacker (LB)
would be all MLB and 4-3 olb
Once again, 4-3 olb with no pash rushing skills want edge ruhser money, 4-3 olb playing as edge rushers in 3-4 defense
*Interior Defensive Lineman (IDL)
would be all dt and 3-4 de
cpu plays 4-3 de as 3-4 de, sub 280 pound players lined up over interior offensive lineman only makes sense for very few players
*Safety (S)
would be all ss and fs
Teams with two good ss will opt to start a average player at fs and vice versa, most safeties can play both but I'll get into my solutions for those who can't shortly
*Tackle 📱
would be all tackles left and right
Teams with two good lt will start a average player at rt, position lock players to LT or RT who have never played the other side or have poor ability to do so
*Guard 🕹️
would be all guards left and right
Same problem as tackles
Secondary Positions, Position Lock, and Player Preference
players could have a primary and multiple secondary positions ex: Tackle, Guard or Edge, IDL
players could be locked into a specific position based on ability ex: LT (Lock) or Slot Corner (Lock)
Player Preference would determine what side of the ball they play on ex: The top two edge rushers on the roster who both prefer the weak side would have the lower rated player be pushed to strong side. The top two tackles on a roster who both prefer left tackle but with the 2nd rated tackle being position locked to left tackle would push the 1st tackle to right tackle.
Players could also learn new positions or have their primary position changed in off season training.
