Coaching Goals is not recognizing first downs in franchise mode.

What can be done to fix this bug? I've been stuck at 279 first downs since week 8. I check after every game and its still at 279 first downs, when the goal the coach needs to hit is 400 first downs. Why doe,s this game never ever work properly its always something. This goes for every madden game year aftet year. Players spend good money for madden and expect the game to work correctly.
