Superstars Role Swap when Playing Online

When playing online, if I switch characters, then try to play a squad practice game where the UI glitches and it can not continue it switches my Superstars position goals with the one I was originally on, and the original character gets reset to the combine despite retaining their skill and XP progress. Once this happens I have not found a way to get them to switch back, resulting in having to delete the swapped to character, and a weird state in the swapped from character that makes playing Superstars online impossible.
