Custom Team Bug

Every single time I try to even inspect the custom team I made and downloaded, the game just stops working entirely

The second I have pressed x on the team image in my downloads nothing works anymore
my controller doesn't control the game anymore, trying to use my keyboard does nothing

there's no loading screen or loading bar, the game is still running and moving because the music is playing and the menu graphics are moving

but every time I try to even attempt to interact with the team in the download center i have to just force close the game 

How am I supposed to use my custom team?
